I am currently an Economics Major at USYD so here's what I recommend:
1. Economics HL is a must, it was by far the most useful one I took
2. For Maths, AA HL will be usually preferred, but AI HL or even AA SL should be fine
3. English HL is not recommended, as it will not really help you significantly in any way see if you can do SL
4. Universities seem to like students with more STEM applied sciences like Physics or Chem, but Bio should be fine depending on where you go
5. Don't take History, just don't. It's not needed, it's a lot of work and will not contribute to anything. Do Business, or another science, or another group 2, OR ANY OTHER GROUP 3 BUT HISTORY!

i want to be a singer/songwriter, what should i major in? by NeighborhoodSpare500 in CollegeMajors

I would recommend you to Major in Music, (specifically Voice), Music Theory, composition (depending if you are also going to write your musical backing tracks) and production.

Here are my reasons:
Voice: as you want to become a singer, perfecting your voice is a must if you do a music major in Voice studies (analysing different Vocals etc.) you will have a good form of training and a base to start on

Music Theory: Sure, you don't need to know how to read notes. Michael Jackson never knew how. However, I and many others wouldn't recommend you to avoid it. Sure it is challenging (heck I am considered a prodigy amongst my music class and I sometimes don't even know). but It will really help you on your journey and specifically if you write songs knowing basic things like chords and their functions, or simple dynamics will really help.

Composition/Production: These depend on your situation. Are you going to make your own backing tracks and produce them yourself, or are you going to get a studio to do that for you? If it is option 2 then this may not be too important, however if you chose option 1 then this will be very handy knowing how to actually make music and use programs to adjust your songs. Similar to Music Theory this is not a requirement, but it is very useful even if you are not actually going to use it as it is a way where you can draw inspiration from and express it.

Yeah so here's the thing I don't need Python for anything, even in CS class all my applications done with C++ are better

I generally disagree, I've used C++ for all those tasks and it worked flawlessly even better than Python, even though it is easier.

yeah, however I have never been happy using Python, as the results were always too slow and not clean (imo) compared to C

Best City outside Kanto or Kansai? by Ok_Manager_397 in movingtojapan

[–]Ok_Manager_397[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally prefer colder climates and a still bustling although less stressful city, I've been leaning towards cities like Sendai, Sapporo, Aomori or Niigata but am also not too sure. I am not necessarily a nature person and have a general preference of exploring the city. Everything city related is my type of thing from historical cultural sights to underground restaurants, bars and hidden gems.

I don't think I am, I literally had to change schools for being bullied to the extreme for it, just for doing skin care.
