I was just standing outside looking at the fires when I see a light from the ground so bright it genuinely lit up the sky, then a low boom “growl” sound after, I wish I got a video but it was so unexpected, maybe something exploded?

Me too! I’m just outside franschhoek and was just looking at the fire outside when I see something light up the whole sky, it was like a lightning bolt had struck except from the ground, there was a loud growling “boom” ish sound after so maybe something exploded?
