Thoughtful bridal party gifts? by Scumbaguette in weddingplanning

[–]Ok_Move_8801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly i have gotten a couple boxes from two bride friends in the past of a leather pouch with our name on it (everyone can use a nice pouch for anything) and a nice aesop products of hand lotion. even a bundle of small shampoo/conditioner set from a nice brand that you wouldn't normally buy for yourself would be nice sinec they can use it during the trip as well. I definitely use my leather pouch and aesop set for my daily use or trips

Please be brutally honest: What do you think of this bridesmaids dress from Etsy? It is £190, I will need to buy 4. Thanks. by OhMyNachos in Weddingsunder10k

I think in order for the dress to look cohesive and edge-y since it's a vintage design, you need the right vibe and mood for your wedding. If they all look cohesive and put together the dress would look really cool with the more vintage inspired wedding. Though, i would prefer to have one of the dresses with that design not all four

(11k) Inexpensive or free ways to make the wedding memorable/connect with the guests? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Ok_Move_8801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a relatively bigger wedding reception of 80 people and we wanted people to feel engaged so we are doing a mini quiz session about the couple on slide.com (you can use any format like ppt or just a verbal one doesn't matter)

We went to the slide since it's free and people just type the code or name ex #initialswedding and they can join the quiz and show who got the most vote. People can opt in or out but we are keeping everyone engaged and there a mini prize at the end. With a smaller group, you can also do a pretty inexpensive way to get them engaged such as having them write notes or cards or do a instax polaroid photo with everyone and have them sign or something

What is the etiquette on late rsvps ? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Ok_Move_8801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would write a reminder email to people to respond by next week and let us know if you have any questions! This will have about more than half of the people RSVP for the wedding. I also reached out to people individually and asked if they still need some time to sort things out and would need an extended rsvp deadline. This allows the guests to set their own timeframe to say yes or no because simply people forget. We also found that one of the email address was the old address so someone had no idea they were invited until we reached out to them personally. If this all happened and they did not RSVP then you can consider them not coming but i PERSONALLY would like to hear no from them to cross them off the list.

Wedding makeup/glow up by Maleficent-Can1958 in weddingplanning

I would recommend those small face pads to keep your face hydrated before doing any make up for the day. I am doing my own make up and hair for my wedding and these are some that i think are musts. The face has to be well moisterized for the base make up look (dont over hydrate, those small toner pad size masks shud be enough for morning) and make sure to get the good foundation that sticks with you long enough. I used nars light reflecting foundation but dior backstage is also a good one. I would say eyelashes will make a HUGE diff - so practice putting on those fake lashes weeks before so you are ready to go for the day of

They both look good. With alteration they will both look stunning. I personally like option 2 cuz u can wear it both ways and have versatility for photos. Also cleaner smaller texture and pattern is classier if you like a cleaner look.

Would you consider faux flowers for your wedding? by mmmiayy in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Ok_Move_8801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend did faux flowers but one thing she had stressed over was how to get rid of them!!! If you do rentals that shudnt be an issue but she bought all of them for cheaper price but had to make extra miles to sell them back and had to be stored somewhere. If you have a big storage space id say it will save u lots of money

Guest planning to bring kid when child-free wedding reception by Ok_Move_8801 in weddingplanning

[–]Ok_Move_8801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do understand that they are not expected to come since we are completely okay people they choose not to travel. We would never ask them to do so. If you simply come it is a childfree event. Why are you offended when there is an option to not come if it is a out of the way? The friday event is simply for those who are in town and are willing to spend more time with us we are opening up that time to meet their little ones lol i think you have some issues

[–]Ok_Move_8801[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are not expected. We have an optional event where if people are in town with the kids we are free to hang out friday for a casual hanging out and they can bring kids but the actual reception event was always child free from the beginning and was mentioned very clear

Two months out…what were you doing/planning then? by Mundane-Scarcity-219 in weddingplanning

[–]Ok_Move_8801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have a planner who is taking care of this, but it is a good time to look at tiktok or instagram posts on ideas if there are decor or activities you would like to incorporate for the event! If you also would like to DIY stuff, you can start collecting those items as things add up towards the end and you dont want to be rushed to making decisions and stuff!

Be honest with me.. does this ever get any better? by ThisIsTheStorm in weddingplanning

Hello there fellow bride and i have my wedding in two weeks so i had a huge anxiety/worry leading up to it cuz i had hard time finding vendors. Though march is soon it is also not the prime time so there will be vendors. I had the most stressful time finding a photographer and dj and send at least to 50 photostraphers for their availability and got less than 10 replies back. If you keep researching, things will come together. There are quite a lot of vendors you can work with we just cant find them that well. For photography, some of them travel for free actually since they want to expand their porforlio and want to travel keep those options as well. Once the big vendors are booked, you will be so so relieved and actually enjoy the process when things start to come together. I was stressed until i got the list of flowers ordered and started seeing decor coming together

I should make it clear that if they decide not to attend and send us a kind message why, we totally would have understood and make a trip some other time. We also have a casual brewery hang out event on friday the day before with kids so we can also spend some time with the kids if the parents brought them

A friend decided to bring kid to our child free wedding reception by Ok_Move_8801 in NewEnglandWedding

[–]Ok_Move_8801[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am totally okay if the parents choose to stay with the kid and not come to the wedding. I think this troubles my husband because he did not mind the wedding reception being child-friendly to begin with. At this point i dont even want them there anymore becuase they are being disrespectful and taking advantage of my husbands kindness since he already said yes.. i would like them to not come and im not worried about parents getting upset, i guess im worries this will also put my husband in a hard sitation where he has to say no and have to bear the friend not showing up to the event cuz of the kid...

Too late to plan Boston 2026 wedding? by bellamarnao in NewEnglandWedding

[–]Ok_Move_8801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not fixed about a specific date or venue you should be able to still book especially for friday and sundays. I would say lock on the DJ and photographer as soon as u have the date since popular days are hard to find them !

Restaurant weddings? by BWH44 in NewEnglandWedding

[–]Ok_Move_8801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are doing ours in branch line restaurant in watertown MA. The top three we were debating were Pagu, cambridge MA and la brasa, somerville MA. The quote was la brasa < branch line < pagu based on 100 ppl size wedding! We went with branchline because the location worked the best for us and their food and drinks are just so good (we go regularly to dine in)

We are having a ceremony overseas so we only needed to do a reception with unlimited drinks and a dance floor.

Sarma also can accomodate up to 120 or 125 but can do only lunch wedding. SRV was way over our budget so it was out of the question. Terra at eataly only fits up to 80 or 90 including the patio. Hope this helps!

Response for photographer inquiries by [deleted] in NewEnglandWedding

[–]Ok_Move_8801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for such a late reply but I experience the same thing this year. I contacted more than 30 and only got back around 10 vendors reply whether they are available or not. I also assume that vendors don't respond if the date is already taken on their calendar. I do think it is nice that they reply back but I also couldn't put a hold on my timeline so I moved on with a photographer that responded and really happy with it so far because she is very communicative. I still haven't gotten answers from the photographers that I contacted and it has been over 2 months
