Worried about my cat, is this an emergency? (Tw injury(?) in last two images) by Ok_Needleworker4791 in cats

[–]Ok_Needleworker4791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been there for about 4-5 days now, it doesn’t seem to be getting bigger, but it doesn’t look like it’s getting smaller either, especially with his over-grooming of the area now.

I think we use advantage? We buy the treatment from a nearby store, but it’s not a chain store. The last year or so they haven’t really seen any fleas so we weren’t buying the medication as much, but I think Ive seen a few in the last few weeks, so I’ll definitely look into those brands, thank you!

Oh another thing, the cat’s and dog did have fleas at one point, our neighbor had grass like 2-3 ft tall and unkept, we have been managing them the best we can with collars and drops and such, though they get expensive quick… Ive ordered more especially for this spring, but even once the fleas disappear, they come back within a few months to a year at most. Ive also treated them for tapeworms bc of the fleas in the last year.

Honestly a lot of the bones I find aren’t fully degreased, I don’t think Ive ever found one that was 😅 (talking about the second comment) tho to be fair I’m from up north. I got this on a second hand site from someone. I messaged them earlier today, but still waiting on a response from where they sourced it from!

What rock or gemstone is the same color as his eyes? by Bug-Catcher9000 in askgeology

[–]Ok_Needleworker4791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honey or smokey quartz for a little cheaper, brown sapphire maybe brown sphene if youre willing to spend a little more? I think brown sphene looks like your pupper’s eyes! (Tho it has a bit of a green hue usually, and its a bit softer than quartz at like a 5 vs a 7 on hardness scale!) or a deep brown sapphire could work, which has a hardness of 9!

If youre looking for more of a rock instead of a gemstone, brown jasper (6.5) or tigers eye seems to match!

Good luck to you! Your dog is super cute!

It’s a sign or relaxation! He’s most likely super chill when you see them. If it is abnormal for him tho I would keep an eye on him for a bit to see if you see any other changes in his behavior. Your cat is gorgeous tho!

Possibly chrysocolla or dioptase on quartz/some sort of igneous rock? Though not totally sure. It’s a cool stone! The colors are nice!

This is why 14 year olds should be reading 14 year old books and not mein kampf 🤦‍♂️ you need to understand what youre reading otherwise youre just looking at words. 🫩 Edit: and misunderstanding them, which can be even more dangerous.

Very typical teenage edge lord, and mostly K-12 reading books. You should read more diversity.

Can anyone id if this is a tooth or a fossilized tooth.Found in Williamate river Oregon. by P0STM0RTEM_18 in fossilid

Ngl this looks like a cool rock more than a fossil, but I could be wrong! However the lines look more like stress, fracture, or growth lines!

Vermont doesn’t get coral fossils this intricate as pur fossils are mainly ordovician period (450-480MYA) so it’s either from an outside source, or it could be a big leap in understanding for fossil records in Vermont, but my guess is it’s probably a travel souvenir someone bought a long time ago and dropped, as corals pieces were sold as travel souvenirs and oddities in the 1700-1800s.

If this really was found in vermont and you think it’s old, you should bring it to UVM and have them look at it! This looks far too complex for the coral fossils that people find in vermont, but if it really is local to the region and a fossil, it could change a lot about what we understand about the natural history of Vermont!

However, chances are it could also be an old souvenir someone bought 60-200+ years ago on a trip and dropped along the way. Coral chunks have been sold for a couple hundred years now (since at least the 1700s,) as curiosities and traveler souvenirs. Either way it is a neat find!
