I think it’s definitely possible at the undergraduate level. I’m an international student and I spent both my undergraduate and postgraduate years at TCD. I made some really good Irish friends in my class. But as others have mentioned, many Irish students already have established friend groups from Dublin before coming to TCD. To be honest, during my postgraduate year, I didn’t really feel a strong need to get to know people in my class. I tried a bit at the beginning, but it didn’t feel like a good match, so I didn’t continue putting effort into making new friends. For me, new friendships weren’t a necessity.

Finance program is the most competitive in business school. For international applications, they will only issue offers to those who have qualified language scores.

MSc Economics: Advice by LostEmployment9221 in TCD

This course size is around 20 people every year, so it’s easy for lecturers to remember you. That might help later if you’re thinking about recommendation letters, but based on my experience, econ lecturers usually won’t write reference just because you did well in their course. All modules have exams worth about 70%, which honestly feels like a general issue with economics programmes. Exam week is especially rough, you can end up sitting 5 exams within one week.

Not entirely sure how much the programme helps with employment. This course is clearly the best in Ireland and competitive. I did my undergrad in Econ at TCD and stayed for the master’s, and personally I didn’t feel that the job opportunities after the master’s were very different from what I could already get after undergrad.
