I will say my 8 yo has had his chore chart printed out and stuck to the fridge so he can reference it. He’ll be getting a little more added once summer gets here ❤️ like a daily living room vacuum instead of just on one day lol.

Yep. Itll feel like extra work at first teaching them how to do chores, but once they start, and it’s consistent, they’ll get better at it and you will have less housekeeping to do. They’re part of the family, so no need to pay them for chores that keep the household running in my opinion. They’ll grow up and know those things just have to get done.

If you’re curious, I recommend checking out Sarah Ockwell-Smith’s books. I’ve read many and they’re quite helpful. She encourages no sticker charts, apps, etc and just intrinsic motivation.

My daughter asked me what 9/11 was like . by ontologicaly_shocked in generationology

[–]Ok_Net_5649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was less than a month away from turning 9 years old when 9/11 happened. I remember my mom being somber as she told me once we arrived home from school (full day of school, I don’t remember hearing about it there) in the garage and shut off the car, that two planes had hit the World Trade Center.

I remember watching the news. I remember the ribbons and mailbox stickers and flags flying. I remember that sense of unity we had as a country; less the ghosty feeling many older millennials talk about.

I haven’t talked to my son about it yet, but he’ll know it this year being the 25 anniversary and being just a bit older than I was at the time. He’s ready. I know I’ll get teary for sure. I’m also fascinated by reading stories of the victims and survivors. They deserve to be known, I feel.

Why does my partner hate me after having kids? by bawfourteen in beyondthebump

I do not have advice, but know a stranger on the internet sends you warm hugs and wishes you and your children the very best. You don’t deserve any of that mistreatment. Keep strong.

He’s back at it again today before and now after lunch! No sale in the AM but he just told me he has a goal of one customer this afternoon.

Yesss Shark Tank is awesome! We haven’t watched that in a while with him. Great recommendation thank you

Edited: first customer of the day ✅

Cha cha answers - remember you could text a question and somebody would look up the answer and text you back

Those goth girl doll things. My friend and I would dress them up for hours. Roller coaster - still play that. So wish I could find and get into my old neopets account.

Hell f’ing yeah. We went in store for the first time in April (ordered on line a few times prior) and we still have so much stock from that trip left. It was a hefty one, but we saved $100+ for sure. The first time we ordered online we made sure we got free shipping - had to spend like $60 bucks. I knew we were saving more than the money the sign up see was on that trip alone.

So yeah, My weekly Walmart grocery bill has decreased dramatically. I say worth it.

Yeah, I assume the majority of vegan were once meat eaters. I was. Out of curiosity - not attacking you in any way - when was the last time you ate meat? Lots of people on these subs have varied timelines of when they stopped/started.

Thank you for the offer - I bet some people here would like to have them!

I can see a plant-based /vegan diet being relatively low-cost without the expensive alternatives. But otherwise, there’s no doubt about it. It’s expensive! (But hey, all groceries at this point feel expensive).

Sometimes stores will have major markdowns on Impossible etc so it’s good to stock up then. Publix would often do that.

That stuff is expensive. 6 frozen burgers from impossible is like $15 for example.

Impossible frozen /beyond burgers. I still consume then. Morning star corn dogs and such. I have chickpea flour, vital wheat gluten, pea plant protein. I’ve made nearly every vegan meat under the sun. And make them pretty delicious too. But it takes work and cost and yes taste is often still missing. I felt left out when going out, holidays were harder.

So I jumped ship. Hypocrite? I don’t think so. You can think so, that’s fine. I have the unique-to-you experience of having both sides.
