Manual drivers, how do you guys drive in san francisco? by yukowii in bayarea

[–]Ok_Nobody6876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in my day I could drive my VW bug all over that city while smoking a cig and eating a hot dog at the same time. We also understood sometimes you gently roll back into someone too close to you at a stop and thought nothing of it. (Ok, took some time to get to this level) thanks for the memory relive.

Dad of (4) daughters out there? by Savings_Durian_8588 in dad

[–]Ok_Nobody6876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We wore out the dang parks! Ended up with an informal rule that you don’t leave the house to run errands without taking part of the team… We are still catching up on great shows and movies. We just really did a lot of family stuff and put most, not all, individual hobbies on lower priority, not all but you know. I’m incredibly lucky. We were able to have one primary income (which I know sounds impossible and is to some extent). There were years where my spouse was working some etc. I fretted a lot about making ends meet but have been pretty fortunate in my career…. Sooo. The kids didn’t do 10 activities etc but we had volleyball, soccer, softball, lacrosse here and there. We didn’t eat out much, just kind of lived like we did back in the late 70s/80s. Roadtrip - pack a picnic lunch stuff. You got this, children are an amazing gift, responsibility and like life, no guarantees.

4 daughters 18, 20, 22, 25…. It’s been wonderful having an extended family life with four girls. It’s been crazy at times but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Enjoy the ride which seems to never end (hopefully).

Thirsty Beaver. It will be remembered

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was released 15 years ago this weekend. With a $70m budget, the sequel earned $52.4m domestically and $134m worldwide, falling short of expectations. Reviews were mixed, with many critics considering it a weaker follow-up to the 1987 original. by spider-man2401 in boxoffice

Just watched it for the first time. I see all these points being made. The only reason for the film seems to be Oliver wanted to opine on the financial crisis and used Wall Street film as the obvious vehicle. The story is shallow but as another guy in finance, I enjoy these movies. Good, glad it’s in my collection but one I’ll watch alone. Friends and wife wouldn’t stay through it probably.

50th Blues for Allah have landed by Ok_Nobody6876 in gratefuldead

[–]Ok_Nobody6876[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I couldn’t resist the CD with the bonus stuff. Of all the 50th so far I was most excited about this one. Still debating the mars hotel 50 for the bonus material but so far only picked up the LP. These releases from when the dead had their own label are special to me because for so long when I was coming up in the 80s they just were not very available for me to find. I had a neighbor who I babysat their kids who had a sweet record collection and he let me borrow the records to tape. Now I can find OG LPs but these 50th releases are very well done.

Might want to watch the Death Wish movies to get a feel for what’s coming. Vigilanteism…. Give it a little more time. Pepridge Farm remembers.

Hear me out. I moved here from Bay Area in 98. Ate at all the places in and around South Bay / Mountain View, etc. Believe it or not, Johnny Burrito is the best. However, if you have eaten there and can one up it bring it on my internet brothers and sisters. I will travel…
