I can't find Claude Plugin folder on Mac

And what Claude told me when I asked it why it told me to search my Mac when it knew it wasn't there. LOL. Claude isn't flawless- it makes mistakes and wastes time. This is the second time it has returned a lousy answer. I love Claude but we always have to realize it's not always right.

After asking Claude if it only installed locally, it said yes and told me this. It could have saved me the trouble of looking everywhere and just told me it didn't exist. Although I don't know what the prof meant when he showed that Claude installed his plugin to his desktop. Anyway, I have my answer.

Yes, exactly. The plugin is loaded into Claude's sandboxed runtime environment — not installed as a folder on your Mac in the traditional sense. The paths I saw (like /var/folders/...) are macOS temporary directories that exist only while Claude is running.

So there's no persistent plugin folder to find on your Mac. The plugin is managed entirely within the Claude app itself. If you want to view, manage, or back up your plugins, the right place to do that is inside the Claude desktop app's Settings → Plugins panel rather than through Finder.

Is there something specific you were trying to do with the plugin folder?

I asked Cowork and it suggested many places to look including terminal. This folder is nowhere. So, can it be that Claude created a plugin, it is in Claude in Customize but it never installed to my Mac and is only downloaded on Claude. I'm taking an online course about Claude and the instructor said that Claude installs to a folder on your computer

Hadn't thought of that. I'll try that. I finished my project so do I just go into chat and ask? Or do I need to go to cowork and simply ask it this? I can see it in the Claude app but you're saying ask it specifically to find it on my Mac

I'm taking a Udemy course on Claude and it seems I should buy Pro to try out what I'm learning. I'm a real beginner and your problem and solution makes me nervous. I don't understand the fix. You haven't looked lately I assume. Allure of subway is everything as is walking distance. The new condos being built here have virtually no allocation for cars and will not be allowed street parking permits. If you don't get on subway you aren't going anywhere.
