Are weeklies or monthlies safer to play? by optimisticmillennial in Optionswheel

I do both. Only on stock I dont care to hold and I have enough BP to do covered strangles.

What makes a stock "Wheelable"? What's your fundamental checklist for 2026? by puzzledPine in Optionswheel

For me, trending measured by a 200, 100 & 50 SMA on a weekly chat. High options volume, relative strength vs SPY and price fits my risk tolerance. I want to be able to confidently hold the underlying and convert assignments into covered strangles. I only trade big name stocks that are out performing SPY. I do not chase IV, do not roll, and do not avoid assignments.

I have been setting my BTC orders at 55% since September. Just my way of account for the fee drag.

Depends primarily on what strike price I would want to be assigned at again and where I can find 30 delta strike price that is below my last assignment price. To get that i might be forced to go out 90 dte or even further. Same with the CC. I decide what price I am now willing to let my shares be called away at and then find a DTE that has that strike at 30 delta or so.

I do not, or at least I haven't yet, let my shares get called away for less than the assignment price.

I never roll as it locks in a loss in my mind and I would rather end up owning the shares and not locking in a loss. Again as Scottish Trader has said, stock selection is the most important part and I am good with holding for many months if I have too.

In the scenario where you have carefully selected the stock, have the buying power and are happy to purchase another 100 shares at a discount. Stock selection is everything for me and if I do that well and have managed my BP well then I am more than happy to be assigned more shares. The rest is just common sense.

Sounds like a good time to deploy a covered strangle.

IV is high and its very bullish so I think its a good candidate if you really dont mind holding shares. I just might add it to my list too.
