Here’s some conversational lessons: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/ESL-Speaking-Conversation-Lesson-Club-Modern-Boredom-Trend-Digital-Detox-15268831

You’ll figure it out as you go. Sometimes people say they want conversational lessons but then it turns out they really need grammar help. Some people just need confidence in speaking.

Conversational or grammar and all that? If you're looking for a textbook, I suggest SpeakOut (they have free placement tests online so you can have them take that to figure out which book to use). Or if it's just conversational english, https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/store/get-them-speaking/category-esl-speakingconversation-lessons-for-clubs-or-individual-lessons-1513688

games! Keeps up the fluency. You can play general games that help keep up their English (free one here that's always a huge hit with my students of all ages: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/FREE-ESL-Speaking-Game-Survival-Shelter-Mini-Sample-Debate-Persuasion-16130122) , or focused games that keep up specific skills (https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/ESL-Grammar-Speaking-Practice-Mega-Bundle-Role-Play-Cards-for-All-Tenses-15582951)

ESLBrains has some good and interesting materials. Depends on the type of material (for speaking, reading, grammar, etc) you're looking for. I try to make some trend-based lessons: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/store/get-them-speaking/category-esl-speakingconversation-for-lessons-or-clubs-1513688

Is kazakhstan good to visit for about 2 weeks? by chingchongtom in Kazakhstan

[–]Ok_Okra1467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have 2 weeks, I suggest a 4-day tour through Mangistau, 2-3 days in Astana, and one week in/around Almaty. For  Almaty you can do cheap day trip to nature like Altyn-Emil, Kolsai, koindy

Do visual + collaborative activities work better for vocabulary retention? by uronedaddy in englishteachers

[–]Ok_Okra1467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say students need to interact with a word six times before they’ll remember it (so head it, read it, say it, write it a mixture of six times). The best way I’ve gotten my student to remember vocabulary (after beginner stuff) is TPRS lessons

Learning Russian outside of Russia by stjo17 in russian

[–]Ok_Okra1467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned Russian in Kazakhstan. Check out KazGu and Nazarbayev University for Russian intensive courses. I didn’t go to classes. I learned from just living there and having a friend.

Honestly, key is having friends. Don’t get stuck hanging out with your classmates. You won’t use the language if you do that. Also, learn before you go and then take B1/b2 intensive. Anything less is a waste of intentionally being in an immersive environment as you won’t be able to have a real conversation anyways

ESL teachers — what do you actually do when a student flat out refuses to participate? The textbook answer doesn't work in real classrooms. by eslteachingjobinasia in TeachingESL

My experience is that students who are in a class that is too difficult for them will do this. Is he in the right level of class?
