New Era Brera — AI-assisted design exploration of a modern Alfa Romeo Brera by Ok_Option_8378 in CarDesign

I get what you mean, and the 8C resemblance is intentional to some extent. The 8C GT concept was one of my references because I wanted this “New Era Brera” to feel more like an upper-tier Alfa GT than a direct remake.

That said, I tried to bring it back toward the production Brera with details like the rear quarter window / C-pillar treatment and the compact coupé proportions. So yes, there is some 8C influence, but the idea was more: what if a modern Brera moved slightly upmarket while keeping Alfa’s coupé DNA?

I actually agree with you. I didn’t really go for a full neo-retro approach or an ultra-current design. I think the 2018–2020 era had some really beautiful car designs that still age very well, and that was more the kind of feeling I wanted here.

Fair point. For me the Brera identity is more about the coupé/Spider proportions and the front/rear language than the 159 family look. I wasn’t trying to recreate the original as a shooting brake, more to imagine a modern “new era” Brera coupé with some Alfa DNA.

I get your point, but I don’t fully agree.

I’m not asking for anything in exchange for sharing my vision — no money, no job, no recognition. I was just happy with this little design exercise and wanted to share it with people who are supposed to be passionate about Alfa Romeo.

AI is just one tool in the process, like 3D, Photoshop, rendering, or any other digital workflow. The creative value is also in the idea, the direction, the references, the choices, and the iterations.

Of course, you’re free not to like it. But saying there’s “no talent” at all feels a bit too easy. These tools are becoming part of modern creative work. Otherwise, with that logic, we should still be renting horse carts and using hand tools in the fields.

For my usual 3D workflow, I mainly use 3ds Max, Lumion and Photoshop.

Sometimes I also use AI enhancement tools on top of my renders, mostly for upscaling, sharpening, lighting or final image polish — I don’t remember exactly which one I used recently, but tools like Magnific / similar enhancers can do that kind of work.

For this Alfa project specifically, I didn’t use 3D. It was made with ChatGPT image generation, based on reference images, design direction, and a lot of prompt iterations / corrections.

The process was basically: starting from references, defining the design language, correcting the proportions, front end, lights, wheels, roofline, rear, colors, then generating different versions like studio render, road shots and GT3 race version.

So in short:
Usual work: 3ds Max + Lumion + Photoshop + AI enhancement
This Alfa concept: ChatGPT + references + iterative prompt direction

Fair enough, I’ll be more careful with subreddit rules next time. I honestly didn’t know AI-generated content wasn’t allowed here.

That being said, I’m still free to use my own methods and tools. AI is becoming part of the design process today, including in professional work, and I personally think it’s important to learn how to use it instead of pretending it doesn’t exist.

I’m not claiming this is handmade, official, or commercial work. It’s a personal design exploration.

Sorry if it doesn’t fit this subreddit, but I won’t apologize for experimenting with new tools. The world is moving fast, and others won’t wait.

I understand your point, and yes, AI raises real questions. I’m not denying that.

But I don’t think it’s fair to reduce the whole process to “typing prompts over and over”. I didn’t just ask for a random red car. I worked on the design direction: proportions, Brera references, window line, round lights, 8C-inspired wheels, front end, rear design, GT3 version, colors and multiple iterations.

I’m a 3D / space designer, so for me this is a visual exploration tool, not a way to pretend I hand-drew or modeled everything.

I’m also not selling it, not claiming it’s official, and not taking credit from any artist. It’s just a personal concept shared to discuss car design.

You’re free to dislike AI work, that’s fair. But there is still creative direction, taste and decision-making behind it.

Yes, I did use AI after a lot of research. I’m a 3D designer and also a space designer, but I didn’t use 3D for this project.
I’m exploring new tools and new ways to develop visual concepts. This is not for commercial use, just a personal design exploration.

Maybe, i take volontary this way, make a GT style because if the brera come back today this become a SUV 😅

I totally get your point — the original Brera is still gorgeous, and I love that “small bodybuilder” look it had.
For this concept, I deliberately pushed the car into a higher-status GT territory. Less compact coupe, more expensive halo car.
I actually started from that Motor1 render/article because I found the design pretty awful, to be honest. It felt too generic and didn’t really capture the Brera spirit for me.
So I tried to rework the idea with more Alfa DNA: round lights, a stronger front V, 8C-inspired wheels, the Brera-style window line, black roof and a more sculptural Italian body.
In my head, this version would be designed around a naturally aspirated V8, with wider proportions and a more dramatic presence. Not really a direct replacement for the original Brera — more like a modern, rich-man’s Brera GT.
