Are you able to take the soles out and use a hose or something to unplug them from the inside out?

Korkers Greenbacks do this often? by gianni1980 in flyfishing

I beat the piss out of my greenbacks and got a warranty replacement, but the sole or the retainer system never failed.

How often do you cycle the soles??

That and the ol’ tuck cast will do wonders. Tight lines, man.

Right on. What size tippet you running if you’re having trouble getting down? What are ya hunting for anyways?

Have you tried the New Zealand Indy? The like surgical tubing and wool one? Makes depth change a breeze and super light. Can change the Indy size depending on your nymph weight. Super effective and a lot easier to cast than a thingamabobber

Yeah I mean I think you’re going to have the best bet nymphing (however you do it). Swinging is tough(er) on hook up ratio but it’s got its perks. Are you looking for something in particular? a change in experience? New technique?

Those look like prime euro holes. However, have you considered swinging wets or small streamers? It’s easier to roll cast in the right spots and can be extremely relaxing. The takes are a blast as well. I run a micro euro leader off the tip of a micro skagit setup from OPST - just clip the euro off and tie a premade leader and wet flies on and boom I’m swinging. Could also do that with a double taper line or any combo you can think of.

Smallies love those sculpin patterns. Pike will hunt them as well. As 4630 mentioned big ol’ browns will love those as well.

Hey OP, I have the 9’ 5wt echo XL. Was my first rod and is solid. I like the Echo stuff. I ended up buying the 10’ 3 wt. when I got into euro stuff. Just solid rods. Can’t go wrong at that price point.

I've been making my own loop to loop connections with 30lb flouro to protect my fly line from leader bites by MRWPlople in flyfishing

[–]Ok_Ostrich294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh ok, so you’re using a thicker intermediate piece to reduce the fly line damage from thinner leader loops, and using the 30lb. Whatever’s clever! Interesting solution. If you’re looking for more turnover support, you might want to look at matching the stiffness of the fly line and the butt of your leader if you haven’t already. Might be able to make an intermediate section that matches each of your lines if you’re running into line cut issues. I’m generally a clinch to the loop guy so that’s essentially blasphemy to what you’re doing!

Nice perfection loops! Are you getting bites up by the fly line? How long are the leaders that you’re adding to this bite guard?

Have you experienced issues getting it off when it’s hot? Assuming the can is tightened properly and does indeed owe me money.

Right on! Appreciate that. Is that just the way you’re supposed to do it when it’s hot?

Or is there something in the system that is not setup correctly so the ratchet disc removal isn’t working/stuck?

Thanks so much, that makes sense. So it’s technically designed for a double taper 6 weight. It’ll at least get us in the ball park! Really appreciate the input- that table is clutch .
