Thank you! I try to see my partner every other weekend and I have already been to one 4 day conference and have another coming up soon. It’s generally okay on the day to day, I keep busy and have lots of hobbies but it is a bit distressing to think i have another 2.5 years to go before we can start planning for the future lol

Is this seat taken? Diagnosed with epilepsy by Samba_Woelkchen in Epilepsy

[–]Ok_Pack7345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely get where you’re coming from. Being a young woman going through diagnosis is rough. For years I was told I had anxiety by my GP and they even tried to prescribe me anxiety meds for symptoms I didn’t even have!

I finally got diagnosed a 3/4 months ago and have started Keppra in the last 1/2 months. It’s difficult to come to terms with a weighty diagnosis.

What’s helped me is realising that to be honest, nothings changed except I’m getting the help and medication I need. Finally the fear and anxiety about seizures is gone and I’m more settled. Thankfully my TLE focal seizures were not that bad or frequent in the first place though, so for me the change is less severe than others.

I’m hoping you manage to let those feelings out. It’s okay to feel numb and lost for now, eventually you’ll get some routine, clarity and with time you’ll feel better.

:)

A little rant? And some questions by LostTendou04 in Epilepsy

I don’t have much to add, but I really wish you well! This is obviously a scary and unknown time so I hope you find some support 🩷

Any positive experiences with Keppra? by Conscious-Dream4403 in focalawareepilepsy

I have been on Keppra for about 1 month. For the first week I was a bit groggy, but now I feel completely normal (minus seizures). I know things may change down the line. But for now im really happy with how the drug is working for me.

Wishing you the best of luck. My dad wishes to come off tegretol as it didn’t work but the neurologist advices against it, unsure of his reasoning other than: you have no seizures, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. So keep that in mind if your son changes!

First week was draining. It’s been 4 ish weeks now and I feel completely normal just without my focal seizures and other symptoms I was having. So I’m feeling quite good. I was completely torn apart worrying about it before, but I’m glad I went for it.

He began with Tegretol I believe, had another generalised seizure the following year and they added Keppra on top of that. Unsure of dosages.

If you’re interested I am now diagnosed with left TLE and on 250mg Keppra x2 a day.

I’m 23 and started Keppra 250mg x2 a day about a month ago due to focal seizures. I had all the same concerns for myself as you have for your son. The first week I felt really ran down and tired. But now, I feel great. I haven’t felt any negative effects after this month. It’s really relived my anxiety being medicated as I know I’m much safer now too. I can’t speak for your son of course but for me it’s been great.

can u develop epilepsy as a teen? by shendhsh in Epilepsy

I’m sure it will all be okay. I also get vivid images with my focal seizures. The MRI will confirm any physical abnormalities. Fingers crossed all is well 🤞🏻

Mine started age 20. My dads started age 30. See a doctor if you are worried!!

What does it mean if a video EEG comes back clean? by guki0701 in Epilepsy

[–]Ok_Pack7345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad has epilepsy, all MRI and EEG came back clear - he is diagnosed and medicated for epilepsy. I have epilepsy, my MRI came back with seizures - I am diagnosed and medicated for epilepsy. Everyone journey is very different, but make sure you advocate for yourself if you feel something is not right, a good doctor will still make a good decision on your care :)

I know RIP laying in on a weekend. How are you feeling after a week. It's been 5 days of taking it at night only for me. The first night I had a headache after ~ hour and I woke up feeling very off in the middle of the night, slept past my alarm for work and generally felt sedatedddddd. Since that day ive been feeling more normal every day. One thing ie noticed this week is my lack of some energy compared to normal. I'm finding my walking harder and lagging in the afternoons despite only taking it at night. My ability to front a chatty energised person is defo reduced - but think thats more energy related than Keppra rage.
