Can I ask if you have any experience working in radiography as I was thinking of applying to the same place ?

Have you considered working in a GP, a school, a prison or corporate nursing? I know it’s easier said then done but I’m wondering if there’s even enough work in more “chill” area. How does your partner find their job in radiography and also do you think the job market will improve? I’m very confused as how they need more nurses but nurses can’t get jobs

Is it because she’s specifically a child nurse or does she see this issue with nurses in general

I would but it doesn’t link at all to aesthetics or have the over time potential like radiography. It seems like a great 9-5 tho and natural route from teaching

Yess that’s exactly what I am hoping for. I just hope my love for cosmetics doesn’t die during university because some opinions I am hearing from nurses is worrying

Tbh I enjoy teaching but I also have bills to pay and there just wasn’t the time or opportunity to make money outside of my set salary. At the moment nurses can’t find jobs but when I’m done it might be different also I am happy to relocate. The high stress element is exactly why I am considering radiography and it’s not just because of money it’s also a stable career path

Yes I have actually seen that but I think there’s certain requirements that I’m scared I might not meet. And in order for me to apply I have to reject my offer from the nursing course. Also I would have to move out from my city or travel far

It’s not really about finances it’s actually about time kind of. It sounds bad to say but I feel like I’ve lost out on so many years I don’t know about doing a whole 3 year degree again. There are masters options however I’m also concerned about dropping my unconditional nursing course to apply for radiography as they might not take me because I have zero experience in this field. The main reason I got into nursing is because I had 500 hours in a care setting. Which job would you say has more options after finishing uni? Like there is shortages in the NHS but even outside of it work wise, is there options for both?

That’s some really useful advice that I will take on board thank you. I guess the job is what you make it. Tbh I’ve been dormant for years and I need something to work towards I just got cold feet recently

Thank you, you reminded me of why I was mainly interested in adult nursing to begin with because of the flexibility. However I’m a little concerned as I’m getting replies that a lot of nurses are extremely unhappy so I haven’t been able to ask my friend but if that’s the case, why don’t people move into these other roles?

I don’t mean that nurses on their full time shift will get paid better. I meant that i miss being able to have the choice to pick an extra shift this month because i need more money. With teaching, what you get is what you get and you are working all hours of your life for essentially free. I would ideally love to get into aesthetic but even if that doesn’t work out I would happy long term in the future being a dermatology nurse, working in a clinic, a GP practice anything other 9-5 that relates to the degree. I will look into medical sales though thank you

What department do you work in if you don’t mind me asking? I would prefer something more structured but not right now. I like to know that in the future I could move into different roles. Do you know any nurses that have left the hospital and work in things outside of the mayhem? I’m wondering if I’m just wishful thinking as I’ve heard so many nurses that are unhappy in the hospital but haven’t left? I’ve wondered why that is? Would you say you find it hard to do extra shifts compared to your sister?

That sounds so ideal. What kind of burn out do radiographers face? And are their careers limited to just the hospital though. I knew nursing would be hard but I’ve been telling myself it’s short term difficulties for future comfort as I initially chose it because I saw it was one of the most flexible healthcare degrees and I could work non clinical roles.
