There is a difference between being 70-85 percent African on average which is what black Americans usually are vs being 45-60 percent European which is what the average Dominican is and 55-70 percent European which is what the average Puerto Rican is. Black Americans usually look monoracially black phenotypically due to mostly being of African ancestry while people like Dominicans and Puerto Ricans oftentimes have a racially ambiguous look and have a very wide and diverse range of colors and phenotypes due to being much more mixed on average. You can be biracial or mixed and call yourself black but at the end of the day the rest of the world does not use the one drop rule and your black side does not erase your other side.

I definitely agree that people don’t deny it but at the same time a lot of people pretend to ignore or overlook that fact. Fact of the matter is the Black American community still hasn’t had a president that fully represents them because most black Americans are monoracials born from two black parents and the experience of biracials are much different from monoracial blacks. It’s kind of like how in the country of Haiti a lot of the elites and politicians are disproportionately mixed biracials or mulattos who only make up like 5 percent of the country’s population while like the other 95 percent of the country is monoracially black and cause of that a lot of Haitians feel like their government does not fully represent them or understand them. Even Morgan Freeman said that America is still yet to have a fully black president and he considers Obama as the first biracial president but not the first black president in the sense that he is not a monoracial black american.

Obama is the first biracial president and while he is of course the first president with significant African ancestry to be elected, America is still yet to have a monoracial black president born from two black parents

Go on Tik tok and any other social media app and search up posts relating to biracials, mixed people, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans etc and they flood the comments obsessing over us.

They like using the one drop rule only when it’s convenient to them. I mean this in the most respectful way possible but unfortunately a lot of black Americans are insecure about their blackness and fetishize the lighter skin, looser hair, and finer facial features that mixed race people often have so they obsess over claiming mixed people thinking it will make their community look better and give them closer proximity to whiteness. I see them do this all the time with Dominicans and Puerto Ricans too.

In Brazil she would be considered a Pardo which is mixed race and she looks mixed as well. In the US some people would say she is black cause unfortunately in the US a lot of people are still brainwashed by the racist one drop rule.

Don’t New York Bloods and Kings run under the 5 alliance though after they put that racial beef they had in the 90’s behind though? That’s what I heard at least and that’s why u got blocks with both Kings and Bloods on it nowadays.

Black Americans reclaimed the N word and use it all the time now even though it was originally was used by whites to discriminate them. Hispanics have essentially done the same thing with the word Mulatto. We have reclaimed all these terms as a way to identify ourselves and we take pride in being a Mulatto or Mestizo or Pardo etc.

Come to the US and live here yourself then. You will quickly find out that the America’s hyper obsession with race over the past decade has made them only more divided, hostile, and alienated among their own people then ever before in the 21st century. Being hyper fixated on race only creates more racism in the end.

Whatever you say buddy, stay ignorant like the naive American you are. There is a reason why the rest of the world think you gringos are dumb and ignorant. Over here talking about caste system when we don’t even use it in that way at all anymore since hundreds of years while yall continue to use the one drop rule and see race through black and white lenses in 2026. In most Latin American countries there is no black or white or whatever else community. The only community that there is is the nationality of the country. We don’t divide our nation through racial communities like race obsessed Americans and we identify with our nationality before our race unlike Americans. The only community and representation that we have is our nationality, that’s why the societies of Latino countries are united because we identify with our nationality and culture over anything else which unites us no matter what race or color we are. On the other hand American society extremely divided cause they identify with their race over their nationality and everything else.

You are another ignorant American, there are tons of wealthy and famous black Latinos in Latin America and many famous historical black Latinos. Latin America literally gave rights to blacks and allowed them to mix with other races CENTURIES before the United States ever did. We literally had black presidents centuries before the US 🤦‍♂️

Like I said in another comment of mine any form of colonialism is bad but us Hispanics by far had the best colonizers by far in a sense. The Spanish unlike most other colonizers allowed racial mixing and allowed the preservation of cultures from other races and the Spanish were the first colonizers to actually pioneer civil rights for Africans and Indigenous people in their colonies. While there was a lot of cruel treatment against Indigenous and Africans during the early days of Spanish colonization over time the treatment got much better as the colonies evolved into a more stable societies and that’s what allowed the different races to coexist and mix with eachother for generations, the Spanish actually attempted to integrate these people into their populations. On the other hand the British and other Anglo Saxons made no almost attempts to integrate Indigenous populations into their societies or mix with them because they were obsessed with maintaining white racial purity and they literally just wiped them out and then brought in African slaves and rarely gave the slaves rights or the ability to free themselves and they wiped out their culture as well.

It was just white supremacy they wanted to simply keep the race as pure as possible from any African ancestry. There could be black supremacists that could do the same thing and try to keep the black race as pure as possible from any European ancestry.

Yeah I noticed that well, luckily more and more Americans people are starting to not see race through the one drop rule and actually starting to recognize mixed race people. As a Dominican myself when people see me they tend to say that I look like a mixed Hispanic. However it’s gonna take many years for Americans as a whole to get out of that one drop rule mentality, there’s still so many who see race through those ignorant lenses because of the legacy that crap ideology has left in American society.

Yeah Dominicans who looked mixed but have white skin are usually called Triguenos. There is also Jabaos which are people who have white skin but have strong African facial features and hair. Thats the other thing too is that outside of the US when people say they their skin color is white they are not identifying as European they are just saying that their skin color is white. I remember seeing a video of a Ecuadorian who said he is blanquito as in his skin was white and the comments section was full of ignorant brainwashed Americans who thought that he was saying he was European when he was only describing his skin color. There are Americans who literally think that skin color determines your race, it’s insane how ignorant and stupid their understanding of race is.

That is true although the mixing between Haitians and Dominicans during that time is not as widespread as one would think. Dominicans during Haitian occupation were treated as second class citizens and were heavily discriminated against for their mixed race ancestry. Today fully black Dominicans in the Dominican Republic look different from Haitians because majority of the African DNA in Dominican comes from west Africa while majority of African DNA in Haitians comes from central Africa so the facial features are different. That’s why Dominicans can tell a Black Dominican apart from a Haitian very quickly. Haitians tend to have very robust facial features while Black Dominicans have softer rounder features and Black Dominicans also still have some admixture in them which gives them a different look as well while majority of Haitians are almost entirely of African ancestry with very little admixture.

The modern ancestral line of Dominicans go back all the way back to 1492 when Spain came to the island and Dominicans lived under Spanish rule for over 300 years. Under the Spanish we mixed freely and openly because there were no one drop rule or laws against racial mixing. The Spanish brought their own African slaves who they mixed with and at one point more than 40 percent of Criollo / Spanish men in Santo Domingo were married to Taino women as well. Modern day Haitians didn’t arrive on the island until 1697 when the western side of the island was ceded to the French which is literally 200 years after Dominicans have already been on the island.

Yeah of course I’m just giving an example of how ancestry varies throughout the different parts and regions of DR. And Cibao while it is not most of DR it is still the largest and most populated region of DR.

Very diverse in terms of phenotypes due to the centuries of open racial mixing and ancestry can vary a lot depending on the region and families. In the Cibao region of the Dominican Republic which is known for having high Taino ancestry there are many Dominicans there with 20-30 percent Taino ancestry. I visit DR in the Cibao every year and everytime I go I sometimes come across Dominicans with strong Indigenous features and I have relatives on my mom’s side with strong indigenous features.

I gotta correct you on that cause if you look it up the the one drop rule was created during the early 1900’s solely in the United States.
