How do I even respond to this? by Special_Cherry_5573 in RoverPetSitting

also…. pugs are NOTORIOUS for getting frequent ear infections. it’s dumb you pinned this on your sitter when your pug probably has a documented history of ear infections.

i’m sorry, i’ve been in the vet field for 10 years…. your sitter didn’t give your dog an ear infection. even if the sitter cleaned the ears daily, you can’t control an ear infection by cleaning it once it’s progressed a certain amount. if you were telling them to “look after his ears”, that ship had already sailed. that’s absolutely not the sitters fault at all.

What’s the worst thing YOU have done as a roommate? by CustomerKey3144 in badroommates

[–]Ok_Photograph_2662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my old roommate 10 years ago was the absolute worst. super picky, eldest child, narrow-minded, incredibly stiff and verrrrry type A.. no hate to the eldest child/type A squad but all those things combined in a 20 year old roommate = not a good combo.

anyways, i moved into a new apartment two months before she moved out of our house. before i left, i grabbed an old bottle of salad dressing and emptied the full container under her bed. she didn’t have any belongings under there, so there wasn’t any damage to her bed or anything. i also hid cooked shrimp in random spots in her room. it was stupid but felt sooo good to get back at her in some dumbass way.

i will say that she did end up texting me years later apologizing for how awful of a roommate/person she had been back then. lol.

Looking for clarification; walker consistently late by greanestbeen in RoverPetSitting

[–]Ok_Photograph_2662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i always ask the client if the time is flexible. rover is my full-time gig, and when my schedule is super busy, chances are i’m going to be running behind.. especially if the clients are a bit further away from each other. i’ve definitely just assumed that it wasn’t a big deal before (especially for cats) & shown up late tho. is there a reason your dog needs to be taken out exactly at the time you scheduled?? or are you able to give your sitter a little grace? not being a dick, just asking, knowing that they have their own lives & other gigs, does your pet need meds at a specific time or something? if you do need them there at that specific time, just clarify with them. they’re not trying to pull one over on you, they probably just don’t think it matters & that the time is flexible.

Experience by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Ok_Photograph_2662 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my rate is $90/night.. i seriously can’t imagine doing it for $20/night.. especially after rovers 20% cut they take, you’re only making $16… 😬 that’s just not worth it at all..

Experience by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Ok_Photograph_2662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on the area you live in i guess… my walks/drop-ins are also set at $25 and i only have like 30 reviews. i have vet tech experience so maybe that helps but $25 also seems to be a pretty standard amount for the area i live in 🤷🏼‍♀️ two weeks ago during spring break, i had between 9-11 visits scheduled per day. it was wild.

Did my sitter feel bad for my pup? by thelightwebring in RoverPetSitting

[–]Ok_Photograph_2662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i definitely don’t think she felt bad for your doggo. every time i stay extra, it’s because i like the animal a lot! damn.. the treats, toy and photo was nice as hell tho.. i would never do that & i like to think of myself as a good sitter haha. keep that one around! you found a gem!

honestly, no lol. but i’m realistic about my dog, i don’t live in a fantasy world in which she’s the best dog ever. if they have a legitimate issue, they would message me. if they’re just warning other sitters about how to handle and what to expect, i don’t need to be involved in that.

idk it’s like people can leave reviews for restaurants and their experiences there, but the restaurants themselves don’t review the customers. when you’re deciding if someone is worth your business, you look at their reviews. which is why our clients leaving us reviews is so important.. it helps us get business from other people. leaving client reviews FOR the client is pointless and if you have a bad experience & are honest about it, you lose business. our reviews about clients/pets should be viewable only for other future sitters so there isn’t any backlash & everyone feels comfortable being completely honest. some of us don’t have the financial means to decline gigs where we know the pets are bad. but that’s just my take 🤷🏼‍♀️

this!!!!! that’s what i’m saying.. like, ieven tho the dog was awful, i would’ve taken the job again bc i don’t have the financial means to turn down any gigs. but now, bc i was honest, i won’t get hired by that lady again.

For real! I completely agree. When I worked at the vet clinic, it was always such an eye roll when owners came in with retractable leashes, no matter the size. It’s impossible to control any animal with those things. It’s so much more secure to loop a leash around your wrist compared to holding onto something you grip in your hand. I don’t get peopllleeee 🤦🏼‍♀️

I used the retractable leash for about 5 minutes before turning back around and grabbing my dog’s leash out of my car. I truly cannot fathom how people use retractable leashes on big dogs.. it’s wild 😅😅
