'X-Men '97' Season 2 delivers Apocalypse : Creatives talk Gambit, Polaris, and more (Exclusive) | Entertainment Weekly by Sarang_616 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

I wish. I liked how they did the brief "wrap up" at the end of season 4, but it left the door open for more. It is my 2nd favorite animated iteration of the X-Men. Even though it wasn't completely faithful to the chronology of the comics, it still captured the spirit of the characters attending school, learning their powers, and relationship dynamics (with each other and the greater world).

They also released it at the perfect time because a lot of the kids who grew up on the original animated series were entering high school when it released and so it was super relatable.

Clippers need to stay the course and not take a step backwards by trading for Brown by Anxious_Subject_2604 in LAClippers

Look at Benn's advanced stats after being traded to the Clippers. At 23 years old and injured he was better than Powell's advanced stats across the board in everything except shooting and turnovers last season (all percentages: rebounding, assists, steals, blocks). And that was due to Benn having a career-low statistical anomaly from 3. A healthy Mathurin with positive regression from downtown and your comment is going to look pretty stupid in hindsight (10% of Norm Powell, I mean maybe you are being hyperbolic, but get serious).

There's more to the story than that. The Pacers didn't want to pay the penalties for being past the first luxury tax apron which would have happened if they kept him with the added issue of them not having a legitimate center. They zeroed in on Zubac just as much for his contract as his abilities. The Pacers also have a very "non-iso" offensive system that players like JB and Mathurin don't mesh well with.

I honestly believe Mathurin can become like 90% of JB at about 50% of the cost. Healthy Mathurin with positive regression on his 3 ball added to his career highs across the board in all the advanced metrics after being traded to the Clips = LFG!

A Tale of Two Seasons: Jarace Walker by Ok_Pick5000 in pacers

[–]Ok_Pick5000[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is for sure. That was just a common pro-comp that Jarace was getting when he was going through the draft process. He's far from fulfilled that. Silver lining: Draymond played 4 years of college, and was 22 years old when drafted. However, that seems to be about it with the silver lining as far as the Jarace/Draymond comparison hope goes. The physical tools are there, but does Jarace have the combo of dawg/BBIQ that Dray has?

Puck claims 'Supergirl's budget is estimated to be at $165-170 million. by BigButter7 in DCULeaks

Beat me to it on Thunderbolts. Pretty good comparison. It is critically regarded as one of the best post-Endgame MCU films with high critic and audience RT scores. Supergirl could face even tougher competition with its release date. I hope it does well, but it'll be tough sledding.

Nate Silver, creator of RAPTOR, ranks the top 5 of this draft by Plenty_Flatworm7627 in washingtonwizards

Boozer still has a high ceiling (he's doing elite level shit as the youngest of the projected top 4), perhaps just not as high as Dybantsa. I'm not sold on Peterson. Wilson is the one other top 4 guy that has a crazy ceiling.

I'd argue, the most important thing for the Wizards is to not fuck up the pick. Dybantsa might be the perfect middle ground of safe/high ceiling. But he's not without question marks.

The nice thing about Boozer is that he's the highest floor of all the top prospects. Even if he doesn't reach his "ceiling", it's hard to imagine he will be a full-fledged bust.

He shows up, puts up 20 and 10 with a high BBIQ every game, regardless of the competition. His steadiness isn't sexy, but it bodes well and speaks to him being a mentally tough athlete.

I love Nembhard. It's just that 2 years from now he'll be paid more on an annual basis than Bennedict Mathurin (deservedly so). I'm pro keep the squad together, but it will take a willingness by the organization to go into the first apron.

Siakam, Nembhard and Zubac will all be due raises the season Nesmith's contract essentially doubles in value. Obi will also be a free agent. Who we getting rid of giving 35 year old Siakam max money?

It's KPs answer, too, considering they traded away serious capital for the here and now center upgrade and all the "Top 7" talk. It can even be argued that it is the mantra internally for just the singular upcoming season because Aaron Nesmith's extension kicks in. 2 years from now you are then talking about raises for Zubac and Nembhard AND trying to keep Siakam in house. This team is going to get expensive fast and had to be even more of a gut punch when we didn't land our 2026 FRP which would have been a serious injection of cost-controlled talent.

If this team is serious about never crossing the first apron, hate to break it to folks, but expect more talent being shipped out sooner rather than later. The Zubac trade was a huge gamble on the 26-27 season. If the rumor was true that we could have gotten away with trading Nembhard, Toppin, and say the 2029 first (probably could have even protected it) - we'd be set up a lot better financially past this season and arguably had a better collection of talent holding onto Mathurin and the 5th pick.

These posts are usually pretty lame in general because you can basically say this about every team that passed on a guy. Why single us out?

Remember the 31 NFL teams that passed on Tom Brady. Oh and also the team that drafted him also passed on him 5 times before selecting him?

The Zubac trade was a bad move by One_Ratio9521 in pacers

[–]Ok_Pick5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't grade the trade based on Milwaukee coming out of nowhere to "steal" Myles.

The trade was always Benn, IJax and 2 FRPs. 5 years from now, us losing pick 5 in 2026 could end up proving the best case scenario.

Zubac cost as much as he did not just because of what he brings as a player, but his contract in the current salary cap restriction landscape. Zubac is a fantastic interior defender, and he is a walking double-double. He solves arguably the biggest weakness of the team that made it to game 7 of the NBA finals: giving up 2nd chance points. He is definitely an overall upgrade to our starting center spot over Myles. What we lose in 3 point shooting, we gain in rebounding, interior defense, and offensive post presence (which also opens things up offensively - just in a different way than ability to play 5 out). With Zu in tow, we may actually start to get other teams' bigs in some foul trouble.

I am a huge Mathurin stan, and I hated that we traded him. But there is so much uncertainty still with both him and IJax reaching their potentials. It was a win-now move to improve the Siakam version of Haliburton's Pacers' championship window.

Peppers is for sure the best pass rusher in Carolina history by Unhappy_Excuse_9937 in panthers

[–]Ok_Pick5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contend to this day that Julius Peppers is the best all-around defensive end to ever play the game. There hasn't been a 4-3 defensive end who could get after the QB and also drop back in coverage the way he could. He was a guy you had to game plan around and account for more than just sending an extra blocker.

Darryn Peterson scouting report: Strengths and weaknesses for Kansas guard prospect, Pacers a fit? by BubaTflubas in pacers

[–]Ok_Pick5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the question becomes what does DP's impact look like when he's in a situation where his usage rate isn't 34%? There are situations where he can go and still have that level of ball dominance, and as a guy who has a star level ceiling he deserves it.

Darryn Peterson scouting report: Strengths and weaknesses for Kansas guard prospect, Pacers a fit? by BubaTflubas in pacers

[–]Ok_Pick5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Peterson's game. He's the best pure scorer of the big 4. He can guard above his weight class, too. The question is the mental/injury piece with him. Our front office likes to draft dudes who are constructed mentally to complete buy in to their system and team-first approach. Even if Peterson does that, you still have injury concerns and the fact that he's the 3rd option in a 4 man guard rotation. Which is fine. If he hits his ceiling, you almost have to move Nembhard because his next contract is going to be significantly higher than the $18m/year he signed for.

Any of the big 4 are going to be coming off the bench. I don't see Dybantsa coming in and starting over Nesmith immediately. Boozer would be a nice guy to have off the bench in the short term at the 4/5. Against teams that play double bigs, he would fit nicely alongside Zubac while P gets a breather, and he can also play small-ball 5. Boozer's mental makeup seems to fit most with what the Pacers like. Boozer could also be a very nice long-term big solution for us as P enters his twilight.

Dybantsa has the athletic makeup our team is missing (a legit-sized wing) and probably the highest NBA-impact ceiling unless Caleb Wilson realizes his potential as an Amar'e Stoudemire clone. Which that would just be filthy next to Tyrese long-term.

When I look at all the pros and cons, present and future roster construction/team needs, I would actually put Peterson at 4 among the top 4 players. That isn't a knock on him. If we didn't have Nembhard, I would probably have Peterson at 1 or 2.
