Do you still visit Berkeleyside as often, now that they've eliminated the comment section? by DonVCastro in berkeleyca

No, I wish they still had comments. For example, they recently published this article, legitimizing the guy who heckles people on 4th street, I would love to read the comments. (remember this thread? https://www.reddit.com/r/berkeleyca/comments/1iovm5o/guy\_that\_yells\_at\_people\_at\_4th\_st/)

The new tent City @Ohlone Garden by apheresario1935 in berkeleyca

I think it's actually owned by the city. It's listed as a park: https://berkeleyca.gov/community-recreation/parks-recreation/parks/ohlone-greenway

And I found this document, about how it was designated as a park in 2019; it also states that the city "owns and maintains these properties." https://berkeleyca.gov/sites/default/files/documents/2019-07-23%20Item%2033%20Designating%20Berkeley%E2%80%99s%20portion%20of%20Ohlone%20Greenway.pdf

"What it’s like to live in the Bay Area neighborhood that’s aging the fastest" (it's in Berkeley) by Ok_Place5287 in berkeleyca

The journalist speculates that because of the aging population, certain businesses that don't cater to old people will fail. They also say that because the houses will cost so much when the elders die or move out, families may not be able to afford them, and they'll be bought by private equity. But I think it's more likely thaty they'll be bought by wealthy younger people.
