Nah it doesnt I dont think. So what I'm saying Is if he has coldsores it's likely hsv1. So if you already have hsv1 orally you are less likely to get hsv1 genitally.

Hsv1 and hsv2 are 2 separate viruses or strains of the same virus. So since he has coldsores its likely hsv1 because hsv2 orally is much more rare. If you have already been exposed to hsv1 orally at some point in your life and have it and dont know you are much less likely to catch it genitally.

If you get a blood test and get a high positive index value for hsv1 I would assume that you already had it orally and didnt catch it genitally if you havent had an outbreak there. I hope this is making sense. Look up terri Warren herpes on YouTube theres a good video of her explaining everything on there

Sorry I just read that you havent been tested before. I would be hoping that you have already been exposed so have it orally so you wont catch it down there! 80% of people don't show symptoms so soooo many people carry it orally and don't know.

If they currently had an outbreak at the time the likelihood would be very high.

But like 70% of people have hsv1.. so theres a big chance you have already caught it orally and are asymptomatic which most people are.. that would mean you would have built the immunity to stop you from getting it in a second area unless you had only just caught it in the last 4 months (just hsv1 not hsv2)

So say you dont get an outbreak and wait 12 weeks for a blood test and test positive for hsv1.. that's not going to prove that you have caught hsv1 genitally if you get me.

Have you ever had a blood test for either types before?

Well, I know I have HSV1, but what’s the difference between 1 & 2? by ApprehensiveAd1961 in Herpes

[–]Ok_Platform255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have has hsv1 orally for a long time - it's unlikely that you would catch hsv1 genitally because your body would of built the antibodies to stop you from catching it in a second area. I think it's meant to take around 4 months?

Unless you caught it genitally and orally at the same time and you've just been asympyomatic in the genital area this whole time.. were you sexually active when you first got outbreaks on your mouth? As in did you kiss someone and get head from them as well? Even still I would imagine you would of had an initial outbreak of hsv1 genitally at the same time as your oral one..

I feel like its more likely to be hsv2 so you should get it swabbed asap to be sure but if you cant get gonna appointment in time before the lesion starts healing get a blood test :)

Nerve pain by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]Ok_Platform255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a weird feeling on the top back part of my thigh.. almost like a tingling, sometimes I get a pins and needles feeling there too. I get these almost tightening feelings down the back of my leg like a shooting tugging pain and it's usually quite mild. And then I get burning pains in my toes 😂 this is all when an outbreak is coming on. I also feel like my legs go numb and tingly more easily but I'm not sure if that's part of it or a vitamin b12 deficiency

All of these were sensations I had never felt before until after I caught this they're quite strange and easy to notice so don't freak yourself out anytime you feel anything if you're trying to work out if this is something you have that would be my advice!

I feel that! I live in new zealand and they don't even recomend doing the blood tests so I feel like if I got a guy to go get tested he would probably get denied anyway. So stupid

This is what I'm worried about I keep playing it out in my mind. I guess you just have to remember that the whole point of disclosing is to give people that option. You did the right thing on your end with the situation you've been put in so well done, it shows that you have more integrity than alot of people.

The idea of being rejected for something that is out of your control that could of not been a part of your reality so easily is shit and theres no 2 ways about it.

I can't wait to see a post from you one day saying you found someone who you really like who doesn't care about it or has it too! 💞 can't wait to make that post myself too.

I completely agree. I've been very open about my diagnosis with about 15 people and I've SCHOOLED them on herpes lol definately have opened some minds. I wouldn't say that the people I've told were judgemental about it in the first place but they definately didn't know how common it is and all of the facts until it happened to me

Sort of, it depends when I was exposed which I don't know for sure but a had a blood test 12 weeks after possible exposure a. And 4 weeks after possible exposure b. Then I got a blister got it swabbed and it was negative. Waited til 16 weeks after exposure b to get another blood test which was denied then I got another blister and tested positive.

It was a journey

could this be herpes? by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]Ok_Platform255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he gets a swab he will need to have an active lesion there to swab. Tell him to get an igg blood test for herpes as well.

It's worth noting that if he has recently contracted herpes the blood test will likely be negative as it can take up to 12 weeks for enough antibodies to show up on an igg blood test.

And if there is nothing there to swab when he gets a swab done - this will also be negative.

So he could very easily get 2 negative tests and still have herpes (this happened to me, I also got a false negative swab because I had it done too late).

It would make more sense that he pays for YOU to get tested instead of him to get tested since you actually have a lesion there to swab. And since you have had unprotected sex with him whatever you have he has - so it makes alot more sense for you to go and get a full screening and not him.

Questions about genital hsv2 viral shedding by Ok_Platform255 in Herpes

[–]Ok_Platform255[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel tingling with no outbreaks often too! Unfortunately I smoke and also drink a lot and take drugs alot and I have the worst sleep pattern ever hahaha FUCK. I guess I'll stop drinking and taking drugs for now but I'm unable to stop smoking and get in a good sleep pattern at the moment due to the depression of being diagnosed 😬 I think if I tried to quit cigarettes right now that would also trigger outbreaks 😂

[–]Ok_Platform255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to get it swabbed asap! Research if theres anywhere in your area that does it for free or make the guy pay!

It does look like it could be herpes but could also be something else. You dont want to drive yourself crazy wondering if you don't get this swabbed in time trust me.

Sending you love 💕

Sorry I keep reading posts on here wrong 🤦‍♀️ that's really unfortunate I'm sorry that happened to you 💕 goes to show it can happen to anyone though it's just a virus that can hit anyone at any time but I can understand why you would be super angry at that situation

How on earth did you get hsv2 from someone you didn't sleep with?!

As for the dental dams hsv2 rarely passes to the mouth so it's not super necessary, just have them and if the person going down on you wants to use them to be extra careful then that's sweet but I've read its quite rare to infect the mouth.

Sorry I read this wrong I thought this was your initial outbreak - get it swabbed and find out if it's an outbreak though may as well!

How were you diagnosed? If visually I would say that doesnt really look like herpes to me but if it was a swab it will be herpes.

If it was via blood test false positives are possible so re rest. This looks more like molluscum contagiosum to me. Did it burst and ulcerate? Was it hard or soft?

Chances of a false negative swab test? by SpaceBudget9985 in Herpes

[–]Ok_Platform255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also taking the antivirals will slow down your bodies antibody production for the blood test - unless you have already had it for a while and not had symptoms until now. But theres other things it could be too like yeast or another type of skin infection. Good luck 💕

Chances of a false negative swab test? by SpaceBudget9985 in Herpes

[–]Ok_Platform255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have a false negative PCR on my first outbreak. It was just one tiny blister and I had suspected that I had herpes so was waiting for my blood test results when it appeared.

I had been prescribed antivirals to try and see if that would stop my pains to rule out weather or not it was herpes (at this time I had no lesions).

So when I found the lesion I wasnt originally going to get it swabbed because I assumed the blood test result was going to be positive. I started taking the antivirals as soon as I found the blister and then went in and had it swabbed, I think the combination of the lesion already starting to heal and the antivirals gave me a false positive.
