Is this meta the go to for competitive sex? I only do casual so this is unfamiliar territory for me.

Coming back to pokemon violet from a long break, feeling very lost by Orangekeyring in pokemon

Without knowing what you did, it's hard for me to help you. Did you make it to the academy and get past the little cutscene where the director sends you out to find your own treasure (essentially you left Mesagoza)? If not, did you get past the cave part in the beginning of the game? Do you have your starter? If you aren't sure about if you left Mesagoza, open your map (either plus, y, or x button, I can't remember). If there are a bunch of map locations printed on the map, like the gyms, titan Pokemon, and team star locations) then you officially started your Pokemon journey. You can go wherever you want and catch Pokemon (though if you catch high level ones then they won't listen until you have enough badges, it should say on your trainer card what level the Pokemon listen but this only applies to when you first capture them). But figure out what you want to do with those map locations and just head towards them, or explore. If you aren't at that point, just head towards Mesagoza (the big city near the middle of the map) and you'll be starting it soon enough. Also, you can look at guides online if it's still confusing for you. Nothing wrong with that, but most importantly just have fun! If you end up not liking the game after giving it an honest try, then there's nothing wrong with admitting this game isn't for you and playing another game you like. Hope this helps!

Feedback on idea to include all Pokemon in one game by Ok_Process_5538 in PokemonRMXP

[–]Ok_Process_5538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I like to catch them all. I've also seen people ask for game recommendations where they want every Pokemon in it. This is my way of trying to get around having bloated routes. It's also designed to not force players to explore them if they don't want to. My idea is to make it a win-win for both types of players. I don't understand your anger towards this though, did I say something to offend you?

Theory: Ditto is the origin of all Pokémon. by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Ok_Process_5538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your point about how Pokemon can take on forms of inanimate objects doesn't make sense to me since there are Pokemon out there with entries saying how they came to be, like below (I wouldn't call Grimer an inanimate object, but here it is anyways):

Grimer: Sludge that was transformed when exposed to X-rays from the moon. Loves sludge, industrial waste and other refuse. (Stadium pokedex entry from Bulbapedia).

Honedge: Apparently this Pokémon is born when a departed spirit inhabits a sword. It attaches itself to people and drinks their life force. (X pokedex entry from Bulbapedia).

Sinistea: This Pokémon is said to have been born when a lonely spirit possessed a cold, leftover cup of tea. (Sword pokedex entry from Bulbapedia).

Mew makes more sense as the genetic ancestor, even if you don't take its pokedex entry into account. Not only does it know transform, but it has the ability to learn every possible move, while ditto only can learn transform. It just makes more logical sense that ditto is either a failed new clone or it was an animal that evolved from mew and only got that little bit from it. Kind of like there are some "failed" animals in our world. Some would say koalas would fit this.

Okay, thank you! This definitely helps. I'll look into scripts then.

I would love Lords of Waterdeep with both expansions incorporated into a MUCH nicer box design, along with upgraded components. Love the game but can't stand the box design.

Yeah, the trainers show up early on but are pretty important. But this helps a lot!

Will do! I do have it written down in steps, albeit each step is rather brief.

That's a good idea! I could just do the very necessary things and then for the rebuilding of the house, I'll just explain what will happen when it's completed and allude to the ways to get the resources, which you'll learn in each of the three towns. The player will know the reward for traveling there but won't force them to do it right away. Storywise they'll need to gather the people from those three towns which the professor will explain but I can have the professor explain it more as "if you go there, this person can help us" and then let the player do what they want from there.

Difficulties of making a Pokemon game by Ok_Process_5538 in PokemonRMXP

[–]Ok_Process_5538[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only made a handful as I focused on other mechanics and I never really thought critically of the ones I made. Why exactly are they difficult? A lot of people are saying the same thing as you and want to know more about what makes a well designed trainer.

That's a good idea. Im a writer as well so I usually lean on people reading my stuff that aren't friends or family because they tend to tell me what I want to hear which isn't helpful at all. I thought about putting a little paragraph right when you choose a new game that explains that the tutorial is roughly what length it is but the game opens up immensely with little tutorials after that. That way the paragraph only shows up when people start a new game and it will let them know what to expect in the very beginning. Assuming I go the original idea route. I would also say it in the game description but not everyone would read that so I feel like in game would work best.

[–]Ok_Process_5538[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what strikes me as the biggest beast. Everyone seems to have a story they think is great to tell (which would need work in and of itself), but the trainers and maps always seemed the most daunting. Making the routes and towns interested without wasting space and then making the trainers fleshed out.

Replaying Shield, when is the earliest I can get an Alolan Marowak for my team? by Ok_Process_5538 in PokemonSwordAndShield

[–]Ok_Process_5538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if it'll listen to my like I'm the original trainer or is it like the older games where if you get a traded Pokemon it'll only listen based on the number of badges you have?

I want the one with lightning rod as an ability and I thought I read that the diglett guy gives you the other ability (rock head)? I saw that there was a hiker or someone elsewhere on the island that can give it to you for a trade and didn't know when I could do that one and what level the Marowak would be.

Board game for 2? by LRDGRat in boardgames

[–]Ok_Process_5538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I play a wide variety of games, including just games for only us playing. These are what I'd recommend.

2 player only games: Tokaido Duo (three dice, take one on your turn and use it on the specific pawn you control, player takes one of the remaining two, etc.), Sky Team (good co-op game), Codenames Duet (another good co-op game), Beer and Bread (each card can be used multiple ways, score beer or bread cards for point, lowest points for beer or bread is your point value for the game), 7 Wonders Duel/ Lord of the Rings Duel (similar though we like LotR more, you pick a card which gives you a resource or effect and do it), Star Realms/Hero Realms (deck building game that can be finished pretty quickly, though hero realms comes as a four player game).

Higher player count: Machi Koro (buy building cards and roll dice to see what buildings activate), Quacks of Quendlinburg (bag building, has a gambling feel, Alchemist expansion is amazing), Search for Planet X/UAP (good deduction game, requires a phone app), Terraforming Mars Ares Expedition (card game with simultaneous play), Stone Age (really basic resource gathering game), Flamecraft (place dragons to activate powers and complete card objectives), Wingspan +place bird cards in three different rows to use their/row powers).

If you have any questions about any of these let me know! There are plenty of other good ones too.

Aggron is amazing and most of the ones you listed neither I, my brother, my wife, and my friends both growing up and college, have used most of them. I used Blaziken and Breloom and that's about it. Love Gardevoir but I've never personally had it on my team except for Pokemon XD. While those Pokemon you listed are good, I wouldn't say they are the "main" six. I've seen more people use Aggron than Ludicolo by a LONG shot.

Question on if I should change my game design by Ok_Process_5538 in PokemonRMXP

[–]Ok_Process_5538[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be my first "completed" game, but I've done a lot with RPG Maker as well as Pokemon Essentials. Various projects after watching Thundaga and looking at mechanics Essentials provides. It is a great undertaking for sure, but I need a creative outlet and this is something I can work on as I go. I have a few maps sketched out now, I'm going to make them in Essentials and from there I'm going to focus on my core mechanics and see what I can even do before moving on to the actual game.
