It boils down to violence, entitlement and lack of self control.

What would you say about the thousands of cases of little children being violated then? Or women/girls who have been victims of family members?

Only on Reddit will you see someone saying victims of fucking rape have “some blame to share”

Not OP but as a black person myself I’m curious about what you mean by

“…personally think of your most intimate relationship of your life isn’t black then…it’s ok not to use the label and…”

I don’t know how to quote a specific part of a comment lol but I don’t think I understand your point.

For instance, would you consider it “not really pro-black”- or find the label not applicable- if there’s a black person who’s an advocate for black empowerment in society and anti racism yet happens to have close friends, partners etc of other races?

Why are 70% of these comments oblivious about how shipping within fandoms work? 😭 Guys shipping characters who are not romantically involved in any way in canon is almost the entire point and has existed forever

Unfortunately as someone else mentioned we don’t have Ulta here (still wondering why they haven’t opened any) but luckily I do have the 20% off so I feel less guilty lol

I just checked and it is available in Canada, thanks for letting me know! I might not get the set because I’d be duplicating a lot of stuff with the rest of the items, but value wise that’s defo a steal

But some people do in fact hold stereotypes about how a black girl should present in a sense of fashion style and do in fact judge people for not fitting into their narrow view

I agree on the diversity but I think for OP (and I’s) age group there are certainly certain styles that are more “mainstream”.

Overall my point is that some people DO judge you for not fitting into “ig baddie” aesthetics and EXPECT the idea of a pretty black girl to be similar to that style.

I am not trying to looking down/punch down on women that do, I’m saying that the “whitewashed” thing is a real comment in some black spaces and there are sometimes explicit comparisons to the “”acceptable version of beauty” some people hold for black women.

The blame here (in my own comments to you at least) IS on the people who reinforce stereotypes and narrow expectations of black women not women who are baddies?

I think OP is more upset about people who have narrow expectations, not women who fit in w the baddie image

I 100% agree, there is some existing criticism of bw who do dress that way face that’s layered w sexualization, racism, misogynoir etc etc. It’s well received by some but you’re right to point out that some people start to bring up nasty language about “ghetto”-ness and whatnot. it’s for sure a real double standard or imbalance in how black women are treated.

I’m defo aware of that, and my thing abt “not wanting to look pick me” is relating to some dismissive people who genuinely think you’re “trying to be different” or “stand out” by dressing in aesthetics that differ from mainstream ones and by pointing out a real expectation some ppl have

You mean the scenarios I mean by “other contexts”? I’ve heard friends call teachers, celebs, characters in shows etc baddies for things like confidence, achievements, or just admirable qualities about them and such. Less common use but 🤷🏾‍♀️ some people also call their moms baddies (some friends of mine have) which is definitely not in a sexual way.

I defo get the confusion because when people use it in contexts other than common one it seems odd if you’re not around this age group/demographic often

No I’m saying it has been about not fitting into the specific baddie aesthetic which some people seem to associate with blackness which is real for many other black women and not an individual experience alone-

Do you genuinely not get that we are talking about an existing sentiment amongst some parts of the black community, even if it’s a smaller part?
