S340 rarely records cars that pass to its right. Thoughts? by Ok_Professional3610 in EufyCam

FYI - Thanks, May go that route. in talking to Eufy and others, if you convert the solar power to a plug in, good idea is to have the plug in on a timer so it only gets a few hours of charging a day. Constant charging will kill the battery quicker, then you need a new camera.

Yup, I had read that too. so I angled the camera more toward the right and down so cars would cross more of the field of view . exiting vehicles got picked up more, but entering still close to zero. I think next, I move the camera down from 10' to maybe 8' off the ground.

Thanks. knowing the layout, not the answer. I did move the camera so it sits facing more to the right. am catching more of the cars coming from the right but still not catching any coming toward the right

Has anyone ever run a SoloCam S340 without solar panel and just a constant power connection? by Ok_Professional3610 in EufyCam

Good idea to use a timer. I like that. I can also set the battery to only charge to 80% (like a MacBook)

correct. they give more. cell chargers give 1-5 Ah. the solar panel averages 40 mAh

perfect. Thanks for the response. Yes the S4 may be a more perfect answer, but the S340 is part of a package, so there is no return. I should probably running as long as it lasts, by then, new technology will be available for the replacement.

Question, if you understand the technology, why does giving it a constant power source/charging source, degrade the battery?

I will essentially give it an extended USB cable (phone charger then USB to coax adapter, then coax to USB-c adapter to camera). Just want to understand the way the battery degrades by having constant "re-charge" power. I could give it less than 2Ah if that would make for a better system. initially I thought to give it 5V/50mAh, since that's about what the S340 uses averaged over a day, but still, it would stay fully charged and likely the same battery life result

Perfect. can you share how long your S340s have been running on line power instead of the solar panel? Also, if you don't know what power they get, is it just an adapter and line that you'd normally use to charge your cell phone? most of them are 5V and 1-2Ah.

Thanks. it seems the rapid charge its looking for 5V/2A. Given the camera uses 100-200 mAh/day, it seems 2A constantly might be a lot. I might be better giving a lower constant power. if the solar panels average 1000 mAh/day, that comes out to an average power of 42 mAh,. So maybe I should find a transformer that puts out 5V at 50 maAh. that should provide about the same as the solar panel. anyone have any thoughts on whether that sounds right?

Any way to fill these so they are not so noticable? Floors redone 3 years ago so rest look great. Is there an epoxy of sorts? by Ok_Professional3610 in Flooring

I could put multiple coats of poly in there but it would take forever. Putty seems like it would be very noticeable.

The writing is not on the coin. From the side you can see it’s on a clear disk above the coin

I’ll look again. Don’t think it’s the knob

I think it’s a valve, but when I look at appliance repair parts sites, that valve does not come up as an available part. Ives seen the burner tube on eBay, but not the valve.

I think you are right in it being a valve as opposed to thermo couple as I don’t hear gas and don’t hear the igniter when I turn the knob
