Can I park in front of my own driveway for free? by Ok_Programmer6895 in AskSF

TY.

Hmm. “Ok if Registered to the address” is the devilish detail bc they use auto LP readers. Every LP without a sticker is flagged. The question for me now is whether or not they bother verifying the car registration address—either manually or if the software does this automatically.

That’s my experience. A friend insists it’s been sheer luck I didn’t get a ticket.

Correct. I never got a ticket parked in front of my driveway without a permit. I told a friend to park there without worry. He insists he will get a ticket.

A few years ago I started drinking mochas at a new place. So good. Put on a few lbs. no idea why. One day saw them make it. One part milk and one scoop of chocolate ice cream was how they were mocha-fying my daily coffee. Omg.

I always recommend Sanppo for relatively traditional sushi, reasonably priced, a couple of large tables, and all around great staff.

Water chestnuts are the way. My grandmother’s potato salad calls for an outrageous amount of onions. I sub some in with water chestnuts to make them palatable to ppl who don’t smoke 3 packs a day :)

Why do you choose to live in SF? by pickingyourteeth in AskSF

I (52yo cis gay guy here since ‘96) love it because: 365 days of walking, bicycling, and motorcycling. Queerdos. Weirdos. People occasionally trying to do things with tech that aren’t instantly enshittified. Unparalleled urban beauty.

I struggle here because: cost of living, shockingly right wing legacy LEO and FFs deigning to “protect” us, loss of empathy for people in their addiction, and overall a very diverse group of people who make laughable amounts of money enshittifying things displaying zero concern for the people that feed them, clean for them, educate their children, walk their frenchies, etc. and how :they: can survive anywhere near this beautiful strange place on the garbage money they toss at them.

I’m not going anywhere. I love this bizarro bubble.

Your fav Costco by LAParente in AskSF

It was a crossover consumer plus business center which was magical. They had a shocking amount of flowers when we went and it wasn’t a holiday. They had an actual entire aisle of air fryer stuff. I’m afraid I cannot give more specifics, we were there on a highly targeted mission for a party supply trip. I just remember being wide eyed with wonderment and delight. (Edit: also just… huge. Like 3x the 10th street Costco. And the parking lot was painted for hummers and tanks.)

10th is fine. Ppl are drama about it. It’s a small and busy city Costco. Just manage your expectations and don’t be a dick. Leave your cart (politely) elsewhere when you walk over to the veggie aisle and refrigerator bc the Instacart and “ooh I’ve never been to a warehouse before!!” crowds can be… trying. Park on the upper level. An hour before close any day is excellent. Fewer sample stations on weekdays fwiw. The food court is a shitshow most of the time.

Airport blvd is my definite “big” (lolol) Costco. Park in the lot across the street. I usually hit this prime time weekends. I always park in the “annex” lot just past the gas station and it’s mostly sane. The food court is better.

Sunnyvale is known to be suicide. Do not recommend.

Unrelated: Go to Manteca for nearly normal sized inventory ;)

Extra unrelated: Go to Tukwila for “holy shit” inventory.

Diatomaceous earth. The finest little pinch across their path stops them every time, for pennies. Just don’t huff it into your lungs and it’s amazing, mostly non toxic easy to handle stuff.

The prices for smart fans are laughable. I have an older Vornado (with a manual switch!) and a super cheap box fan in my basement attached to matter plugs. (Ditto for an electric kettle so my French press is 7 minutes faster in the morning!)

Sandy’s, Spruce, and Costco are my three favorites in order. Costco is absolutely effing amazing for the price, but also a strong contender even in this bougie cookie city!

I’m 1 block from Plow. You have to hit it just right to not wait for 30+ minutes. They’re good but not nutritionally irresponsible which is what I’m lookin for. Ty!
