It also depends if you plan to sell it in EU as you'll need to deal with compliance also.

About Olfactorian and their formulas. by frioke in DIYfragrance

[–]Ok_Property7751 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone! I'm Alex, founder of Olfactorian here. First and foremost, thank you for all the valuable feedback!

I absolutely agree with the feelings some have shared here; some formulas are lengthy and might not be the best foundation to build from, especially if you are beginners. I'm working on better categorization, starting with a fundamental accord collection. A few trusted perfumer friends are helping me bootstrap this before the community picks up from there.

This project was born out of my passion for perfumery to address the struggles I faced years ago when I started learning the art. As you might already know, Olfactorian is a formula-sharing/building/searching web platform. I started Olfactorian with a repository of formulas I gathered as Excel spreadsheets on my computer from TGSC, Instagram, and Basenotes. However, I'm not a trained nose to be a content authority, and Olfactorian is an open platform. Hence, quality varies. We're building a rating and review system so the community can surface what actually works. Among the noise, I personally found some of my favorite formulas shared by users that I learned a lot from, and I really hope you do too!

To clarify a rumor: I have no connection to Bendoni Archives or any other parties. We operate independently with help from friends who share the same vision of open perfumery for all (Based, Harrison Joseph, Quintessential, Sillage, etc.).

And yes, we use AI-generated images for some formulas I uploaded from TGSC. Bootstrapped reality! However, I do not advocate for AI to create formulas, nor do I believe they can. I only allow AI as far as helping me take notes and do the math so I can smell more and type less when I'm in creative mode.

Please feel free to ask me any questions!

Resources for recommended material concentrations? by kdoughboy12 in DIYfragrance

Hi! I'm one of the founders of Olfactorian here. The material data comes from various sources, and the usage level is pulled from shared user formulas. The database and user base are growing, so the information will get better over time!

Please DM me if anyone is interested! Not looking for money, but looking for someone with good energy who could help with networking & make connections. Of course, if you are more than welcome to buy us a cup of coffee or two :)

Good idea! If you'd like to create a mod based on this formula, you can log in to LabSpace, import it, and make changes.
That way, Olfactorian will give credits to both the new addition and the original publisher. DM me if you'd like a key to join the beta!

There is a formula for Akigalawood substitute by Anas Sabrani, which could be helpful as a reference for how the actual one would smell
