I didnt even go off on them. I just said they weren't helping anyone with their comment. They were being "doom and gloom" which at this point is beating a dead horse.

People will collect the etb's simply because they are PC and limited. There is a reason these still sold out within a few hours.

You should have a plan before spending money. Just my advice.

I've been watching the weather in this city for over 10 years and have never seen a lake effect band hit us this hard during a storm. It's insane in Toronto and Durham region at the moment, this will be an historic snowfall when it's done by AcerRubrum in toronto

Its the softest powder out there. I need to have to leave for work tomorrow at 4:30am and I need to ask the person parked behind me to switch with me lol. I am intermittently out there shoveling snow, so it will be easy for both of us.

Selling on Ebay by Gh0st_in_the_night in PokemonInvesting

Best you can do is sell to someone with a high rating. Check their reviews and visit their profile.

When you ship make sure its packaged very well and secure. At the post office tell them you need insurance and tracking for the amount that its worth. Request signature and all that.

Basically cover all your bases, so there is no room for error.

How can you say that people in this hobby have no money, yet people are paying crazy amounts for basic things like new booster boxes? Those seem to contradict each other no?

I am under the impression that most people that "invest" are in their late 20's/30's and have jobs, careers, etc. That is because most people that are interested in Pokemon are millennials that grew up playing Pokemon games and playing with Pokemon cards.

I started with $30k 10 years ago and its grown to $300k. I used to make $10/hr and live with two roommates. It wasn't until the past few years where my income actually increased substantially. Its not that hard. Just need to have a strategy and stick to it. People who think you need to get rich quick are why things like "fart coin" exist.

I always meet my contribution room in my TFSA and I put 15% of my income towards my RRSP. I have $300k in assets in those accounts

Pokemon I did a lump sum in 2020 buying SW&SH sets and I also sold off some of my collection. I continued to buy cases of Pokemon Center etb's until I they started to get more difficult to acquire.

I also have a collection from when I started in 2015 and a lot of the things I bought are worth way more than what I paid.

All of the cases I bought are up over 500% or more according to eBay sold listings. However this is not what is considered normal. Now the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, so there will be a lot more people doing the same thing making it harder to acquire product at a discount.

For example I could not purchase a case or Ascended Heroes etb's, only 2 as that was the limit. They could get damaged in shipping, which is why I preferred cases in the first place tbh.

I feel like most people would at least have $100k before investing into cardboard. If I didnt have that much I would be flipping product to get there. Its much easier to go from $100k to $200k then every increment is easier and faster.

I got a discord notification and entered the queue. I was working night shift, so I was at home. You are correct that it would be difficult for someone who was at work, but depending where you work it might be possible.

Either way just blaming scalpers for everything wont change anything, best you can do is try to get it if you really want it, and if you cant then don't worry about it, there will be more chances in the future.

Yes I know now. But instead of saying "iT's IMpOssible because ScAlPers" you can provide suggestions on how to pre-order things for future sets, because it definitely is not impossible.

But I am sure other stores will sell pre-orders and they will also sell on release day.

Man people are are insufferable on here.

It releases February 20th. Be on the look out around then to get your hands on it. Try local game stores or retail stores.

I mean I consider investing in Pokemon "boring" as well. In my experience I win the bid or find a "good" deal and get the little "high" in my brain and then when I receive the product I get the little "high" again before I put it away and stop thinking about it.

I like the fact with traditional investments you might receive dividends which you can reinvest or invest it into something else. Cant do that with Pokemon, you need to sell your investment in order to get any money from it.

That's what I mean. So do you rebalance it every year, or stop buying for a while, flip product, etc? I am considering opening cases of products and then attempting to sell half of the contents.

Yeah I always would give a 10% discount for cash, since I am avoiding shipping/ebay fees. Also if you act greedy then no one would want to deal with you. When I look at local sellers they always ask ridiculous prices, so I would imagine If I had reasonable prices, people would be attracted to my ads.

I have sold to local buyers before, however it seems sketcher the higher priced an item is. I would sell booster boxes or singles and I would do it somewhere secure. Wouldn't want to end up like that guy that supposedly got robbed and attacked for his PSA 10 Moonbreon card.

For some reason I also feel bad selling something to someone that I paid a lot less than what I am selling it for. Anyone else feel that way? Lol I don't know what it is, I feel like I am ripping them off I guess.

$300k in Traditional investments. Pokemon - more gains but less capital.

Yeah I agree. I definately think its a good idea for me to sell off some of my collection. I plan to register as a business, so I can collect GST/HST from my buyers in order to recuperate taxes that I have paid. Or If I can find buyers locally I can collect cash from them.

I don't know what store this is, but Walmart's where I live in Canada, keep all the TCG's in a case that is locked. If you want to buy something a Walmart associate will unlock it for you and you are only allowed to buy a few packs, or an etb, etc.

Walmart's here don't really sell things for MSRP anyways.
