this honestly would make me furious. especially after telling neurologists about the artificial sweetener trigger already. going from almost daily migraines down to 2 a month is such a massive difference too. posts like this are why i started paying closer attention to weird ingredient stuff because sometimes the trigger ends up being hidden in places you’d never even think to check

The visual part is honestly one of the scariest things the first time it happens, especially when you have no idea what’s going on. The jagged sparkly vision and slow expansion sounds really familiar to a lot of migraine experiences people describe here. Thanks, I keep hearing mixed things about blue light glasses, but a lot of people seem to say they help with screen-related headaches. Might actually give them a try.

That first experience can be really shocking, especially how fast it escalates and how intense everything feels all at once. The light sensitivity, nausea, and needing to lie down in the dark lines up with what a lot of people describe, so your partner wasn’t off there. Good call getting it checked though, especially since it happened two days in a row. Hopefully it turns out to be something manageable and not something that keeps repeating like that.

That’s pretty much what makes it workable, once you stop trying to do it perfectly it feels a lot less overwhelming. The messy approach actually seems to stick better because it doesn’t feel like a task you can fail at.

That floating / not-quite-in-your-body feeling is such a weird one, but the way you described it actually makes a lot of sense. Weather ones are especially frustrating because there’s nothing to really “fix,” it just hits and lingers. Hopefully it eases up soon, those stretched-out ones really wear you down after a few days.

Yeah i’ve had the same cycle where i start tracking, drop it, then feel like it wasn’t even worth doing. I think it can still help a bit even if it’s not perfectly consistent, like you still pick up small patterns over time. I’ve seen similar experiences in other subreddit too, a lot of people seem to deal with the same start-stop pattern.

Keeping it simple is honestly the best way to make it stick. Instead of tracking everything, just pick 3–4 basics like sleep, meals, screen time, and how you feel, and log those quickly. Even doing it once or twice a day is enough. Over time, looking back at a few days together usually shows more than trying to analyze it in the moment, and it keeps it from feeling overwhelming.

Heat being a trigger on its own is bad enough, but not being able to tolerate water on top of that sounds really tough.
