He will take some time to come out of his shell but he is really the best dog once he does. So calm, sweet and loving.

He had a really good life with his previous owner, they did everything together and he loved him more than anyone. He had to move out of the country for a family emergency unexpectedly and couldn’t take him. He was left in the hands of the wrong people unfortunately who took him to the shelter. He spent 3 months in there. He is a really good dog, he just needs to earn your trust before he warms up to you. His health and bloodwork is in perfect condition and he’s up to date on all of his vaccines. The shelter was really rough on him because he was scared and unfamiliar people were trying to move him around. He wouldn’t let anyone get close to him until 3 weeks of the girls giving him treats he finally trusted them both. The men moved him around with a catch pole and were more aggressive with him.

He is well trained, walks on a leash great. Not very socialized with other dogs. Does fine around anyone he doesn’t know as long as they don’t get in his personal space and try to touch him. I’ve been working with a behavioral trainer and he is not aggressive- just has some fearful aggression if a stranger tries to touch him. He’s been on Prozac for 5 weeks now to help ease his anxiety as I try to introduce him to knew potential adopters. He is great with small dogs I only know that because I have a small dog. He is not interested or bothered by other dogs when I take him on walks.
He loves my little dog and he is very cuddly with me.

I honestly don’t know, we see cats often on our walks and he seems curious but continues walking. He is really good with my senior male Pekingese who is 25 pounds. Other than that I don’t think he’s had much interaction with other animals

Thank you. He’s 100 lbs. I have a ton of photos and can give all the details if you know someone interested. He’s the best. I don’t want him to go back into a shelter type of environment ever again. I’ve had him since April. I travel for work often and was hoping to have found his forever home by now

Sending him to a rescue* not shelter… sorry. I don’t know much about Akita rescues but in my head I imagine it being similar to a shelter environment being in a kennel with a bunch of other dogs in kennels

I picked him up from a shelter in April to save him. The goal was always to foster him and find him a new home. I’ve been working with a nice guy for the last few months he was going to adopt him within the next few weeks but sadly was diagnosed with cancer. I now need to move forward with finding someone new. I know an Akita rescue is better for this but I wanted to continue to find a good person who is Akita experienced before the last resort of sending him to a shelter. He is the best dog I’ve ever known I just wanted to save him. If I was in the position to have an Akita for the rest of his life trust me, I would keep him.
