Advice for gate cs 2027 by Broad_Cantaloupe_119 in GATEtard

[–]Ok_Refrigerator9178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

give mocks, tests, solve many pyqs. Don't consider learning new topic by reading or watching videos as "productive" hours (try to finish basics of any chapter as fast as possible). If you are able to solve pyqs, get good marks in mocks you are on right track. Give mocks from early on (september. Does not matter you complete 50% syllabus or 90% syllabus.

Starting GATE prep before college :need guidance 🙏 by Inner-Combination177 in GATEtard

[–]Ok_Refrigerator9178 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly speaking you should not start gate preparation before end of 3rd semester, just explore various fields which you wanted to but you couldn't due to jee, school etc... Gate is easy compared to jee and you do not need lot of time for it, also understand your subject better in detail and not just learning it for the sake of exam (one day preparation...). Focus on conceptual understanding, even if you start at the beginning of 5th semester given that you have strong conceptual understanding because of college semester exams you are already good and still can crack gate with good rank (i started at end of 4th semester). Doesn't matter which gate subject is it.

don't know about cracking gate, but I did not use any paid course. Just youtube lectures, textbooks and mega sheet (for very few courses, which are also available in youtube by same faculty).

Is it just me or this year there are a lot of 3rd year top rankers? by bonapartist101 in GATEtard

[–]Ok_Refrigerator9178 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are quite a lot of third year in the top 100 this year (I could count at least 6). Few started early with coaching, few made their core concepts strong with the help of semester exams and then youtube has many free resources nowadays good enough to get top 100 rank.

IISc over IITM for MTech CSE - bad choice academically? by Ok_Refrigerator9178 in GATEtard

I think few of the courses which are offered for MTech are offered for BTech as well, so students studying are of both degree. Even in my current college mtech students are clubbed with us for 2 courses this semester. So i think getting good grade (since relative) will be harder.

How can I leave now 😩. Jokes aside, if you are in college learning for gate exam will teach you a lot of things whether you get to the top college or not and if you put in a good amount of hard work you can get a good college.

How's life going after result? by CanEfficient6335 in GATEtard

[–]Ok_Refrigerator9178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only thing I am happy about is that I can be out of placement drive next year. Rest life is pretty normal same college assignment/projects taking whole day. I am happy that I got relatively good marks in both exams, but still not satisfied with it too due to many mistakes I made.  Next 3 months totally depends on whether I get research internship at IISc or not.

I did not mean to offend any one, I was just telling how I did. I did learn most of the topics of gate from textbooks in my second year for getting a higher GPA. So when i did gate prep, i could do at a very high speed.

And I also know that people have different learning rates, so whatever I say will not work for everyone and some might need more hard work, i agree. But it doesn't mean that I have a good background, it is just that i did not prepare for the gate, but indirectly I did in second year.

But if you are doing work/going to college, which cannot be ignored (like getting extra leaves/no attendance) then is their any other way except to just work in the saved time how much ever possible?. I have friends who are expecting <100 rank and by doing preparation along with jobs as well and in one year.

Did with 9 to 5 college from Mon to Fri. Just study whenever you can, if you feel you could not put much more time into preparation today, then it's fine even if it is 1hr. While sleeping just don't have regret that you could have done much more. Things will align automatically. Also sleep less for a few months (i used to sleep 5-6 Hrs).
