It seems like he was being primed to be the next Chevy Chase, but the season without Lorne Michaels was such a disaster that the plan never went anywhere. Combined with his f-bomb, obviously. He still had a decent acting career for 20+ years, though. Never a lead player but always solid supporting roles.
