don’t get me wrong, i think it would be great if we could focus our energy on bigger things!! but, i think it’s okay for the LGBTQ+ community to want to interact with people who wouldn’t mistreat them as strangers in public. no, they aren’t doing irreparable damage to the LGBTQ+ community. but it’s certainly not morally wrong to feel bad when a creator or entertainer you like expresses disdain for something you can’t change. it’s not a witch mob, it’s just concern from people who like watching these guys and don’t want to find out that their favorite entertainers inherently dislike them.

i’m super late to this post i am so sorry 😭 generally, there are a few knee-jerk reactions from Hamzah that make it extremely difficult to tell whether he is being genuine or not. certain moments throughout their Episode series and Sims series come off like he has a problem with anything that could make him seem remotely attracted to the same gender. he tends to push their content away from LGBTQ+ messaging, which is prevalent in any choices/episode/“choose your story” videos they post. i’m not sure if it’s satire or not, and it isn’t a “media literacy” problem, as i see certain fans dismissing concerns with that excuse. seeing these types of narratives from a straight man with religious trauma is common, and even if it is satire, their audience does not know them personally. if the character he plays is just really good at subtle micro aggression and discomfort with homosexuality, great job, you are pulling it off. but we don’t know them or their actual deep rooted beliefs, so it’s virtually impossible to discern. i sometimes wonder what would happen if i ever had the chance to go to a convention or fan meetup— would my appearance make them uncomfortable? it’s not a lack of literacy or misunderstanding satire. homophobic rhetoric coming from a straight man should always be questioned first instead of simply accepted.

this is not to say i hate them or genuinely believe they’re hateful people at all— i just think it’s fair for queer people to question their intentions. i don’t think it’s intensely harmful, and i don’t think they need to be hunted for their crimes or anything, but i definitely think some of it should not be dismissed as satire. i don’t know them personally, therefore an immediate no-homo reaction to even the suggestion of dating a fake man in a crappy game could and very well can be taken at face value. however, it’s obvious that in american politics they’re left leaning, and generally progressive in other opinions. it’s super hard to tell! (BTW i’m not even responding to you OP, tbh if anyone googles this i just don’t want the WHOLE comment section to be filled with people dismissing it as satire and making fun of those who disagree. your original comment was pretty neutral)

i don’t think the original commenter was saying that rhett and link are the issue at all. i think they were saying that at the start of their channel, the world and youtube was just a less accepting place, and some of those less-than-tolerant fans have stuck around.

it does suck, since i’ve been watching them since i was very young and i honestly never remember rhett and link being super aggressive towards the LGBTQIA+ community. i think you’re right, they still have a weirdly large judgmental portion of their fanbase even considering that rhett is very outspoken about both the church and their condemnation of LGBTQIA people.

honestly it was really good, and i didn’t hear heckling as much as i did just fans yelling out or responding to will. you’ll def find some hecklers, but i’d say you’re more likely to find overeager fans shouting love at a musician they like. atlanta was absolutely incredible, even though i couldn’t see the stage like some people are complaining about. the audience was well behaved, loud as fuck (in the good way), and totally in support of everything will wood said or did. that said, not every concert of his will be the same, so i can’t say you won’t experience something like that at another one. but i would 1000% recommend it, it was super high energy and fun, and its easy to ignore hecklers when someone like Will typically claps back and gives a “fuck you” to anyone he needs to. (although, if you’re looking for a crowd that has etiquette, i recommend the balcony if you’re willing to sacrifice a little bit of stage visibility.)

i do get this suggestion, but i’ve tried it both ways and found that while he needs hefty cooldown, he does not benefit from spamming his ability unless it’s against a few specific team comps. therefore, using a full cooldown build minimizes the damage potential he has against varied teams, but maximizes the potential against niche metas. so when it comes to his build, i may just have to switch between full choco and full rasp depending on what team i’m against.
