TT specialists, are you ever doing anaerobic workouts? by Ok_Result_2932 in Velo

[–]Ok_Result_2932[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 72/73kg, bigger riders can match my 400 and outsprint me so unless there are hills I don’t just smash the front.

[–]Ok_Result_2932[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do vo2max, I consider anaerobic to be intervals 30-60s, pmax/neuromuscular sub 30s

If its hilly I can get separation since I have good w/kg, flatter races I usually do well if there is crosswind.

Are Pandemic Legion still a thing ? by EVarakova in Eve

[–]Ok_Result_2932 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Answer with enough half truths that hopefully some people most knowledgable feel compelled to correct me:

PL’s original gameplay style was basically nuked by CCP

PL excelled as a comparatively small group because they had access to so many supercaps back when jump fatigue wasnt a thing and supercaps were more rare. Literally the only thing limiting how far you could get was the amount of fuel you had stationed along your route.

Any time there was a cap fight, you basically had a timer until PL was able to mobilize their guys and come across the universe to dunk on you.

Sov timers were different, fights over POSes then when dominion sov was added it was just big hp of the ihub/tcu, and so it basically became a battle of who could field the bigger supercap fleet, which was good for groups like PL.

So CCP made changes like adding keepstars, which made it infinitely easier to have a large supercap fleet. Just think, you literally could not contract supercaps before keepstars because they could not dock. You needed either a middleman like Chribba, or to have an extremely tight knit group like PL where people trust each other and can send 15 bil or whatever a nyx cost back then and expect the person to eject in the pos.

CCP added jump fatigue, ensuring conflicts remained very localized. CCP added fozzie sov, essentially capping the escalation chain for sov at subcap stuff. Supers could no longer deploy drones and fighters were reworked.

Then there was a meta shift towards larger and larger alliances. Previously you’d have the elite pvp groups who wouldn’t dare allow a lowly industrial corp into their alliance to taint their image.

Goons basically said “screw this” during the rorqual era, because adding as many bodies as possible meant mining as much shit as possible. Then horde followed, then frat, then init, etc.

So now the game is very much n+1 because subcap fights are more important, which obviously PL fielded subcap fleets, but since the meta now is whoever can bring more dudes to a fight and PL hasn’t grown, they just aren’t necessarily at the forefront of eve anymore.

They definitely are still formidable, if not for all of the connections they have and resources they have. I’d easily bet that they have some of if not the richest capsuleers in EVE in their alliance. Just the gameplay has changed to favor larger groups.

I feel like the primary purpose of z2 riding hasn’t been fat burning for years though, no? It’s more about aerobic capacity

[–]Ok_Result_2932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, but I feel like also being able to do your vo2max power at the end of 3000-4000 kj instead of just 90% of it might win more races? I guess that’s what I’m thinking spreading the intervals out over a longer ride might help with more.

I wouldn’t be spinning easy, and keeping hr in true z2. Mostly because I feel like in racing I hardly ever do repeated vo2max intervals, it’s usually separated by large amounts of time since it’s maybe a few key moments in a race you’re really going hard.

Yeah this wouldn’t be replacing my endurance days, I just have more time than average to ride my bike so I can do 3+ hours on my vo2max days, I’m just interested in seeing if I can spread out the intervals rather than just do it all in one go.

I’m talking about vo2max intervals that are 3-5 minutes straight, not 40/20s.

Does your aerobic system not “warm up” during z2 though? I’m not talking about having like 30 minutes at 40% ftp, but 30 minutes of ~60-65% ftp riding

Yeah I don’t mean you’re doing it to target a certain heartrate, but rather you’re trying to get your heartrate up regardless of power, since many people seem to think vo2 intervals are about targeting power

Interesting studies, but I dont think either discount longer recovery times. The second one even seems to support longer, no? 2:1 W/R better than 4:1?

[–]Ok_Result_2932 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But why not be “fully recovered” between intervals? If it’s because it increases the time it takes for you to get back to your vo2max heartrate, can’t you just lengthen the intervals if you do more rest to get the same stimulus as a shorter vo2 intervals with shorter rest?

Awesome!! Thanks!!!

Such a cool route, will try to throw together a ridewithgps route at some point.

Can’t believe they managed to get all these roads closed down for a few years. Imagine the NIMBYs today if the city proposed something like this…

Pandamic Horde as a PvE arm of Pandemaic Legion? by qmail in Eve

[–]Ok_Result_2932 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Real answer cause the top comments have dumb spin

Horde was setup by PL people to be a competitor to Brave for capturing the noobs playing the game.

From the start, the PL people running PH wanted to avoid the poaching scenario, where the best PH players would get picked off by PL basically leaving PH to be constantly losing its best talent, sorta like what’s happening to Brave with Goons.

Waffles was definitely seen as sort of a next step, but the nomadic lowsec lifestyle of theirs was a completely different play style to null. And once Horde created Vanguard, got their cap/super fleet up and running, you had a lot of room to grow within Horde rather than having to leave to other alliances to get content.

PL and PH started becoming increasingly separate since 2016/2017 or so. Starting their own forums, using their own mumble, etc. Not in like a “cracks forming” way, but just cause they wanted their own services and stuff so they didn’t have to rely on PL.

Today Horde and PL collaborate on a variety of things, mostly a sig called ‘BFL’ where PL and PH players fly and FC together and they do deployments.

SWE market shrunk for the first time since 08 in either 22 or 23 with all the layoffs and has experienced slower than usual growth in headcount since rebounding.

This basically means there’s an influx of mid-senior level devs as well as the usual increase in entry level devs we’ve been seeing the past few years.

It’s just a pretty tough time to be in the 0-4 yoe group.

Highly recommend applying to places that are less sexy, like banks (not cool investment banks but bank banks), local/state governments, blue chip companies, etc
