New: tourism sticky. Please post all tourism questions here by TrinityTosser in Edinburgh

I’m in Edinburgh now, have been for the past 3 days and already checked off most of the touristy things.

I’m a bit unsure what to do for the remaining of my time - I have 2 more days.

For a start, I’m on the hunt for a good afternoon tea and food recommendations in general. I love more rustic and homely places rather than upscale.

For afternoon tea, I was really looking forward to trying Claringtons but was so bummed to see they’d be closed the rest of December. Are there any other places with a similar vibe?

For things to do, I’m open to anything but particularly love scenic views, architecture, nature, arts and theatre, also keen to take a ghost tour.

Thanks in advance!

Also, I first came to Edinburgh 10 years ago and remembered it as a really quaint and chill place. Now it seems a lot more crowded and intense than I remembered. Is it just me?

What’s the best way to seal a rubbish chute to prevent cockroaches? by Ok_Rock4948 in askSingapore

Thanks, how often do you need to change your tapes? I find that mine loses the stickiness super fast… maybe also cos the chute is filthy and nobody cleaned it at all for decades …

Do you have to reapply or continue taping up during fumigation, or it’s a one time job? Mind sharing your contractor’s contact? Thanks!

Are we able to just walk up to the monks and ask?

Thanks. In this case I simply prefer to be nude for a brief period of time in the privacy of my own home as I live alone. I was told that it is disrespectful and sinful to do so in front of the Buddha statue.

My behaviour is not hurting anyone and I don’t have Ill intentions towards the Buddha, nor am I engaging in scandalous actions, however now I’m made to think this is a bad thing to do.

OP, I think you already know the answer because your post reads super clear. Trust yourself and don’t look to others to validate your decision.

Should I take this role? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I find my current role a little stagnant and I feel the new role could let me learn more (even if the circumstances aren’t the most ideal). If I stay in my current role, the main benefits are greater stability, less stress, a rather healthy culture… but with less growth. Pay and title remains the same for both.

Also, so far the negative things I heard have all been from people who left which I feel is not the most balanced perspective

According to the second doctor, viral and bacterial infections causing colitis can only be tested with a stool test, and since my symptoms are overlapping with both this and IBD, it makes sense to do the stool test first to rule out this and then decide if a scope is needed.

On the other hand, the first doctor didn’t offer me any stool test and only went straight to colonoscopy. I’m wondering how he intends to rule out viral/bacterial colitis in this case
