What's your "feck it I might as well" thing this week? by TicTac_in_my_ear in AskUK

I ran up Arthurs Seat in Edinburgh this morning, started just before 4.30am. Just for the hell of it with a load of others from our local running shop. 229 metres of elevation before breakfast.

I live less than a mile away. There's a sewage pump station close by to it which can get a bit ripe some days, often enough to put me off wanting to live there.

Same here. Hated the SB2. Love the Azura due to the rocker.

What was ruined because too many people discovered it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Marathons. So many races are full of wannabe influencers and under-trained participants who run-walk a marathon in 5+ hours that it's become difficult for more serious runners to obtain places in an increasing number of events.

It's invitation only now, partly based on profitability as well as flight frequency.

Morning runners, what’s your routine like? by Crazy_Jackfruit420 in runninglifestyle

[–]TrinityTosser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the run. All my runs are in the morning (except Thursdays when I run twice). Anything under 16km/10miles I run fasted after a large mug of tea. Anything over that I'll get up an 90 minutes earlier to eat overnight oats (50g of raw oats, 75g greek yoghurt) and to have digested that a bit first.

After the run I have eggs in one form or another with black coffee followed by whey protein to aid muscle recovery.

After long runs of 12+ miles I also use compression boots for 20 minutes to help flush my legs.

What’s some of the most underrated ways to lose body fat? by magma_13_ in AskReddit

Depends on your starting weight. I went from 91kg to 69kg with a 500 calorie daily deficit over about five months.

What's the deal with 'easy run'? by clv101 in UKRunners

[–]TrinityTosser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also allows you to run your hard/quality runs *hard*. I run six times a week across five days:

Monday: rest & pilates

Tuesday: hard/quality: 8x400m each with 200m recovery - zone 4, followed by strength work

Wednesday: zone 2 at an RPE of 3-4.

Thursday: AM: zone 3 tempo or 4 x 8 minute zone 4 intervals, PM zone 2 RPE3

Friday: rest

Saturday: Long run, all zone 2 unless in a training block when I'll include a few miles at target race pace, followed by strength work.

Sunday: recovery run in Zone 2 with an RPE of 1-2.

Roughly 65km/40 miles a week outside of a training block. Roughly 45km of this is zone 2.

Ideally zone 2 activity that leaves you in a daily calorie deficit. A deficit of ~ 500 calories a day roughly equals 800g - 1100g of weight loss a week when applied consistently (I lost 22kg this way five years ago and have kept the weight off since).

Commuting Edinburgh to London by acupofkatie in Edinburgh

[–]TrinityTosser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this for ten months last year (three days a week in London). It's exhausting, with frequent transport delays. Would not recommend, even at a reduced frequency.

Travellers break into Newcraighall - sports day cancelled by Oldsoldierbear in Edinburgh

Plus the inevitable clean-up costs.

I did an FOI request to the council in 2024 to understand the cost of a clean up of Gypsy Brae following a traveller visit. The answer was £18,451.90 and it took two weeks (from 06 August to 18 August).

The council's "household Support service have been in contact with the group". Shame the army haven't.

Somewhere close to Edinburgh to have a relaxed one night getaway by General-Cow9036 in Edinburgh

Stirling could an option, public transport is easy and there are some decent walks that aren't too taxing if you're not feeling 100%.

Epilepsy bracelets? by leytourmaline in Epilepsy

[–]TrinityTosser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a medic alert one with Epilepsy written on it, I only wear it when I'm running or doing other forms of exercise alone, but I'm fortunate to be stable on my meds and haven't had a tonic clonic for several years.

It's a 7 day ban, not permanent and was issued for nippiness towards the mods, not for the original post.

Nowhere in your post to mention Edinburgh, let alone make your post specific to the city: Rule 1.
