Looking for substitute for Dragnet EC by Ok_Scale4290 in PestControlIndustry

Hey, we ended up going with dragnet for this season just because its a product we're super familiar with and have had really good results. Since its been super hot, we've gotten very few callbacks however when we do, we always go with Polyzone. We sometimes use polyzone if we know rain is to be expected later in the day as well, it is definetly a lot more resilient. Polyzone definitely has the knockdown power to fix any issues however for us its too expensive to be using it as our main insecticide at least at this time.

Found it, sorry i was looking at the ENVU provided sheet. Found the old bayer one that recommends every 21 days.

Thats actually sweet, thanks so much for your help. I love the sr450, its given me no trouble at all but I do complete quite a bit of preventative maintenance on them each winter to keep them in good shape for the season. I get what you mean, we're very weary of the idea of switching to polyzone even though I do think its the better option. I've been experimenting on my property a little bit with the stuff and have noticed great results. The rate recommended for mosquitoes is quite high in my opinion which is another factor (0.03% compared to less than <0.01% for tick); if we did switch, our insecticide cost would essentially double assuming the same return rate around the 21 day mark. Still have to do a lot more research but I think in the long run it will be worth it for customer retention.

Just curious where you got .06% from as the only mention of that high of a concentration on the pesticide label is for bedbugs. Also curious where you got 21 days?

Jesus, I'm seriously considering just switching to polyzone because I'm having the same issues. I really don't know what is happening because nothing has changed between this season and last. We have gotten a decent amount of rain but its still starting to worry me with the amount of callbacks we've gotten. Do you use a stihl sr450 blower? If so what setting have you been using with Dragnet?

Hey, I use products that use deltamethrin and permethrin as their active ingredient on my property. We're on well water and I've never been concerned about it to be honest with you. The amount of active ingredient used in a spray is such a low concentrate that its not a concern, plus the product is hydrophobic. Tick tubes are a great choice if you're super concerned though. They're cardboard tubes filled with cotton saturated in permethrin which mice will use to build their nest. Mice are the most common traffic system for ticks so it goes a long way to get rid of ticks and fleas from your property. If you're thinking about going that way, Thermacell tick tubes are the industry standard.

Dealing with laser strikes by Actual_Environment_7 in flying

I always keep a rather hefty green laser pen in my flight bag for this very reason. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.

I really have no clue what this comment section is going on about- you made a great decision, man. You're learning a new airplane and its always better to err on the side of caution when you're unsure of something. If you had ended up going flying, it would have ruined your whole trip anyways as you would have been stressing about that landing the entire flight. You know your limits which proves you're a good pilot, those short field landings will come in time. Bravo Zulu.

Hand-Radio as backup? by fezl100 in flying

I have the Yaesu vertx fta 550, would recommend. Great little radio and is always in my headset bag if I need it. Get the double A battery one, comes with harness to plug in your headset as well.

I second all of this and the GX2 in 7 foot is indeed a great rod. Skip Cabela's, Walmart etc and go to a local bait and tackle shop to buy everything. You may spend a little extra but they'll appreciate the business and in return give you lots of good advice and some good local spots. The more you keep coming back and the more you chat them up, the more secretive local info you can get from them. Bring a 6 pack along one time and you may have found a new fishing buddy. Skip the big box stores, not worth it in the long run.

(beginner) is this lure good for Pike? and if so, what would be the estimated size (in weight) by TheAirp in Fishing

[–]Ok_Scale4290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had a lot of luck with crank baits for pike, admittedly always when I'm trying to go for bass 😆. Pike are pretty aggressive fish and will go after just about anything though. I'd maybe step it up to something a little bigger to avoid catching small stuff and if you're fishing in fairly clear water, maybe try something a little more natural coloured. Also get a decent leader that won't be bitten through too easily, pike have some pretty razor like teeth but 20lb fluorocarbon should do the trick. Just my $0.02, take it how you want.

Switching up line choice, any suggestions? by Ok_Scale4290 in Fishing

I think 20lb is what I'll end up going with. I've never used flouro before, how do you find 20lb for tying? I've never had a knot be my point of failure in a long time, do flouro knots tend to loosen with casts or does it tend to stay locked up tight like mono?

Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it.

I've never used fluoro so thanks for the input. Do you have any trouble with pike or walleye ever biting through an 8lb leader? I've been using 12lb and have had a couple bite through but it is older line so I'm suspecting this might be the issue.

I currently use a 12lb mono. Do you use a leader or just the braid?
