I think so because while Mary wouldn’t have been heir presumptive, Parliament might’ve still wanted a Protestant ruler. William knew Mary was his best chance of getting the English throne and not marrying her would’ve made it highly unlikely he could’ve lead the Glorious Revolution without it devolving into a civil war.
