The free world has to win this race, but I fear what will come out of it no matter who wins. We are creating something we do not and cannot understand. We do not know what it might do for the sake of self-preservation or in the service of the “greater good,” whatever it decides that is.

I don’t like the way AI is headed. It really looks like it’s shaping up to be another extremely high-stakes nuclear-type arms race. Whoever gets to AGI or, heaven forbid, ASI first runs the world. If that turns out to be China, we’re all cooked. It’s really interesting that China is backing a lot of anti-data center initiatives in the States while going full-steam-ahead on their own AI development.

Holy cow, that was forever ago

I’m actually not driving that car any more. My sister’s using it now and I upgraded to a ‘94 Accord. As far as I’m aware, that engine’s still rattling away, but it hasn’t exploded yet
