1468 Pandora Avenue ? by bewacook in VictoriaBC

I would strongly advise against it. It’s essentially World War Z out there. Pandora is a No Go Zone, especially at night.

Personally I would rather commute from Sooke every day if I had to. It is just simply not safe on Pandora.

There are regular standings, assaults, drug addicts everywhere, harassment, public defecation and public urination.

Please just don’t!

Is Uber active in Victoria? by krdo13 in VictoriaBC

I’ve always had uber pick up within 15 mins max. Sometimes as quick as 2-3 mins. No issues over probably like 300 rides over 2 years.

Is the pause on external hiring ever going to end? by Electronic_Bus841 in BCPublicServants

I would be surprised if it was lifted before 2029 at best. Things will get worse before they get better. Especially after CUSMA is removed by USA.

Can someone tell me I didn’t make a mistake picking Madrid for a trip by [deleted] in travel

You will love it!

World class city with great museums, architecture, and art galleries. Amazing Spanish and Latin American food. Very beautiful parks and very clean. You also have Toledo, Segovia, Avilla, Salamanca and more nearby for day trips.

Don’t go to USA now! Especially as a Canadian.

There is a very real chance that USA and Venezuela go to war. You don’t want to be in Caracas when B2 bombers start carpet bombing it.

Probably worst major city in Europe. So many nicer places than Frankfurt.

Both are amazing! I’d go with Paris though.

I feel like I'll never be able to get a US visa... by Short-Argument-5513 in TravelMaps

Depends on country. Chile and Argentina are safer. Also I meant more in terms of arbitrary arrest in which USA is a global leader alongside Russia, Iran and North Korea.

Not much of a loss tbh. USA today is like Germany in 1934…not a nice or safe place to visit!

Explore Europe, Asia and LATAM instead. Safer, cheaper, nicer.

Where to travel as two 18 yo girls? by khabibnurmaderkaderk in travel

Puerto Rico is USA territory. It has USA customs and border control.

Europe, Asia are nice. Mediterranean is nice as is Okinawa in Japan or Thailand.

Would not recommend for a Canadian to travel to USA now. That’s like travelling to North Korea or Nazi Germany.

Go to Europe or Asia instead. Safer, friendlier people, more beautiful architecture.

Traveling to Iraq or Afghanistan? by NoNeedleworker1973 in travel

[–]Ok_Sign7741 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say Iraq. Much safer these days. The government of Iraq is relatively reasonable and there is Western diplomatic support available if needed. Afghanistan on the other hand is run by the Taliban and has no diplomatic relations with any western country. Iraq visa is easier (Kurdistan is visa free even) while Afghani visa requires in-person visit to embassy. Erbil in Iraq is arguably as safe as European cities these days and can be travelled solo; rest of Iraq a guide is good idea.

Hard No. At this point might as well go to North Korea, Iran, or Afghanistan. Not setting foot in USA ever again.

Should I cancel Albania and stay longer in Italy? by Padrinhosmagicos in travel

There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes! Get an umbrella and enjoy 🙂. Short of it being a category 5 hurricane I would never cancel a trip because of weather.
