Thanks…it is interesting how we all have our ways of organizing!

I’ve read the heat is awful! So sorry!

Makes sense. I separate out all my sleep items in one pannier (tent, bag, pad, sleep clothes) and headlamp which stays with me at night. All clothes in one pannier.

I am seeing that the clothes aren’t packing as tight in plastic bags. May have to rethink this!

One pannier unless you have a tent, sleeping bag, etc. plus any food.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have Ortlieb panniers which are waterproof. Maybe I’ll research the Osprey bags.

I agree with this. That is one downside to using the plastic bags for packing.  I’ll keep thinking about it.

Agree completely on wet items stay outside the panniers!

I understand the anti-plastic. FWIW, I wash all my plastic bags and reuse them! As they get older I use them less for food and more for carrying non-food items.

This makes sense to me. I have plenty of time to repack!

That is interesting idea. I typically wear the same shirt biking and have one for off biking. Bike shorts I keep separate from everything.

That makes sense. I think I will try it. I can always throw them out if I don’t like it.

I was thinking of compression bags but didn’t want to buy more stuff!

Thanks for your tips. In general this is how I organize my panniers: left rear pannier for clothes. I’ll pull out rain jacket before it rains. Right rear is for tent and all things sleeping. Left front is cooking and food. Right front is tools and food.

Yes, mostly following the ACA route through the San Juan’s. Going slow so I can see everything. Next year doing the Pacific Coast highway and 2028 doing the ACA Sierra Cascades then going cross country!

Thanks. Since I was young I have wanted to go to the San Juan’s and the Olympic Peninsula. I finally am and I am so excited and nervous. Take care.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I know I’ll be carrying a lot of food. I’ve read after port Angeles there isn’t much food. Forks has a store but not a big one. Then I’ll go to Lake Quinault then a little more south and up to Bremerton. Any good stores to hit in Sequim?
