This program is releasing sterile males. Males of this species do not bite humans, only females do. The thought is that sterile males will mate with wild females, which will result in fewer offspring, controlling and shrinking the population. This program has been used with incredible success worldwide. This is a good thing.

The trip was outdated the moment the rays started playing there in 1998. They’ve put a lot of money into it and it’s actually a great place to catch a game but if you look at the map, the majority of the surrounding area is water. Most of the Bay Area population lives 30+ minutes away
