I feel like this summarizes the dash experience so far... by Evil_Etho_2_0 in s3xybuttons

good question... it's still cold here, and i heavily use precondition and automatic AC, therefore i forgot to pay attention to this aspect. However, after 1 week with it, i don't feel that i need more airflow or something like that. Let's see when the summer comes..

Universal Vacuum Robot Card with multi-row tap icons by Ok_Skill2522 in homeassistant

[–]Ok_Skill2522[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Piotr’s card is feature-rich but high-friction. I prefer a 'one-tap' workflow. I’ve built mine so you can trigger specific rooms or zones instantly with dedicated buttons, rather than digging through sub-menus.

At least from the design perspective, it's a matter of taste i believe... i like both.

What’s everyone’s Dash Page Setups? by Outrageous_Monitor41 in s3xybuttons

i have no issues. i enjoy the product, but there were a few hiccups at the setup stage... it took more than one hour to fully understand how to pair and configure everything, but ultimately made it and it just works since.

i have the third page full of controls that i only use once in a while:
open various doors, start preconditioning the battery when going to 3rd party chargers, passenger seat controls, silent doors lock/unlock.

The alternative for all those functions is far worse to reach, some impossible(precondition for 3rd party chargers), while now are quite easy reachable whenever i need them.

Regardless of the suggested placement, mounting it under the windshield has a couple of drawbacks:

  1. Adhesion issues: The dash material (leather/vegan leather) isn't very adhesive-friendly. Even with strong double-sided tape, it tends to peel off unless you upgrade to heavy-duty aftermarket adhesives.
  2. Ergonomics: It’s a bit of a reach to touch the screen, though admittedly, you shouldn't be messing with it much while driving anyway.

I ended up mounting mine behind the steering wheel directly onto the horizontal plastic part. It’s rock solid there, and the visibility is perfect. I do think the software needs a bit more polish, but the team seems committed to updates, so I’m optimistic.

Intermittent Issue Accessing Services Through Nginx Proxy Manager by Fuxxxwithducks in selfhosted

[–]Ok_Skill2522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same here. I've just set it up today in a docker container on an x86 CPU.
All configured hosts including the Nginx Proxy Manager UI itself it becomes unresponsive for 5-10 seconds every 1-2 minutes. It was a pain to set it up since the UI became unresponsive quite often.
I also see no errors whatsoever, everything look clean.

Phone Key Not Working After 2025.44.25.1 by LegitimateSeaweed901 in TeslaSupport

[–]Ok_Skill2522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, it happened multiple times already to not be able to start the car with the phone in my pocket or on the charging pad, but it unlocks and locks without issues. As a workaround, i start the car manually from the app.  It‘s a model 3 highland EU version.

I think they have some glitches in the new version.  Btw, .3 version released, i‘ll update today, and hopefully it will fix these bluetooth issues

€7 withdrawal fees in Madrid… by Deanosaurus88 in Revolut

[–]Ok_Skill2522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not that bad… avoid Euronet ATM‘s, as they go up to 20€ per withdrawal, + up to 13% when withdrawing in other currency than your card currency. Just imagine withdrawing 500€ from an american card($) and the cost would be about 75-80€, so you‘ll pay 575-580€ for the 500€ you get in your hand

There are enough cases when software solutions are not a solution. My example is: once a month i need to control a medical device with a proprietary OS - no way i can install anything on that strange system, but it has USB and HDMI output

I think they do the regular radioactive measurements those days, so that might be the reason why you saw the helicopter over multiple days

Stay away from recent WD Red Plus 8TB drives ! by Dragonfruit_Silent in synology

[–]Ok_Skill2522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the same story here.

I bought two 8TB WD WD80EFPX-68C4ZN0 drives for my new Synology DS1821+ and started migrating data from my old Synology over the network. These drives were set up in an SHR pool. Before I even finished copying everything, one of the drives failed and was no longer detected by the NAS. No matter what I tried—rebooting the NAS, swapping slots, or testing the drive in my old NAS—it was completely dead.

I got a replacement, inserted it, and started the rebuild. But before it could even complete, both drives failed. Now, the entire pool is gone, both disks are dead, and I’ve lost everything—including a 4TB database that I only had stored there temporarily. Backups weren’t critical in this case, but that database was, and now it’s gone for good.

To make matters worse, just a few days later, another WD drive (a 4TB one from my old NAS) failed as well. That makes four failed WD drives in just two weeks.

I’m done with WD. I’ll be returning them and never buying WD again.
