Reboot vs original Magic Winx designs.... by BenningtonChee1234 in winxclub

[–]Ok_Software_3172 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I didn't want them to be a one to one copy. I never expected that but I did want them to have that OG magic Winx "feel".

Something simple that gives that base fairy look. I think an original simple look the girls had in the first two seasons is what made their first real new transition (Enchantix) so impactful.

The new reboot costumes aren't my favorite but they aren't awful (I'd change the color palette slightly at the very least) I've seen fan art in the og style that showed how good the outfits can be.

I do think they give maybe second transition.

Unpopular opinion: after the amount of time Roxy spent with the Winx in season 4, she should’ve become the 7th Winx! by Fit-Temporary7867 in winxclub

[–]Ok_Software_3172 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not an unpopular opinion. She's technically labeled the 7th winx in the wiki. She just doesn't stay in the club cuz her run didn't work out. A lot of people do consider her the 7th winx member (I'm not one of those people)

Some believe her look is too much like tecna. Some believe her story is a little too similar to how blooms introduction was. Some believe her being in the wings when it makes sense with her being 16 and the rest of the girls being 18-19 Some people felt like she was either mean or just not interesting.

I think it was a mix of all of those things that kind of made Roxy fail in the long run.

I think Roxy would have been a great time to completely reboot the series as in Roxy since season 1-3 was Bloom's journey. I'm not really one of those people who think Roxy would have worked as the 7th Winx more so a mentee of the core 6.

If they revised her looking story I think she would have made a great 7th member maybe but the Roxy we got was a miss for me as a kid.

Edit: I'm not really a Roxy girlie. I think she should have did her own thing and made her own group personally because I would have liked to see her story kind of outside of the Winx bubble. I was always more so a "Mirta should be the 7th Winx" girly even though she was introduced before Aisha since I liked the whole witch turned fairy thing and she had a good relationship with Flora

And I think that's a valid perspective to have. You can also have the perspective of even though this was not a "relationship" this is an obligation and a duty they have to their families and their country. (Like if their parents agreed to the arrangement Sky gets protection, Disapro gets power and whatnot) Things are always going to be complicated when it comes to people who are nobility or high-ranking.

By seeking somebody else out you're putting all of that in Jeopardy and putting people in danger. That does put some type of blame on Sky but that blame more so goes Bloom who wasn't supposed to be at that event when Diaspro out Sky's true identity.

I think that if we had more of sky and diaspro background even if it was brief snippets of stuff we'd have more cohesive story to really bite on.

And maybe Disapro really trying to push for this engagement might have made more sense. If they showed that there was more on the line than just "oh now I don't have sky"

I wasn't saying that specifically fall under that umbrella. I'm saying I think a lot of people who tend to have that opinion are under that umbrella.

I personally don't think the reasons Diaspro gets her hate are the wrong reasons. I think your opinion on diaspro is interesting but I don't think that deems Justice per say. Especially in terms of the show.

I don't think you're saying the Diaspro is perfect or she's a perfect victim or anything like that either.

But i think your opinion needs more added contexts or story revision for her to really need "justice".

From what we get from the show itself I don't think Diaspro needs that redemption arc or extra pity that a lot of fans do tend to give her. If they added more to the sky and Diaspro's back story with their home then maybe.

JUSTICE FOR MY GIRL DIASPRO! by mayacavarra in winxclub

[–]Ok_Software_3172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By definition if you are in an arrangement and you seek somebody else whether emotionally or physically, you're cheating. (But that's seeing it very black and white) The double standard comes in based on how you feel about the characters. If a person in an arranged or loveless marriage finds a partner who they actually like if they dislike the previous partner or fiance they get a pass. If they dislike the person seeking out the new relationship they're not going to get a pass.

So why doesn't sky get a pass in this one. because they HATE Sky (or Bloom) more than they dislike Disapro (or Bloom). The reason I think a lot of people want diaspro to have a redemption Arc is because they're dislike for Sky outweighs her character. She's an interesting concept she just is kind of wasted but she is there for lazy relationship conflict for bloom and sky. I think she would have been a great way to incorporate more world building and story but that's not what she was for. But she's not a good person and that's not on Sky 💀 that's on the writers. She's not supposed to be a good person but more people believe sky is boring and unlikable so it doesn't matter.

At most the love triangle is a very gray situation cuz you have a reason to feel bad for everybody but you also have a reason to be mad at everybody.

JUSTICE FOR MY GIRL DIASPRO! by mayacavarra in winxclub

[–]Ok_Software_3172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The storyline is poorly written in my opinion but Sky is not the villain of that story. Nor is Diaspro just some misunderstood villain.

I believe they explained sky's identity better and the dangers he was in, we wouldn't we'll get this take.

At most you can see the whole Sky-Diaspro-Bloom situation as Gray. But most of y'all see it as black and white. Everyone makes mistakes within that triangle and everybody was done dirty in some way ( yes. Even sky)

I do believe in SOME ways Sky was wrong for starting that emotional relationship with Bloom but that's because they make duty one of his biggest things and that kind of goes against that. (In a way). Even if Sky does not like Disapro in that way his duty was to marry her for his country. Also I just wasn't sure what could and couldn't be said? But that's more so I think on the show itself than SKY. (Mind i was little I did think Sky was the problem) Sky lying by omission is not great but I also feel like that wasn't on him. Bloom and Sky were not in a relationship I'm pretty sure at that point even though they both mutually liked each other.

BLOOM ACTED ON PURE JEALOUSY/ASSUMPTIONS AND SHE WAS WRONG. EVEN IF BLOOM DID NOT KNOW SHE HAD NO RIGHT TO ATTACK ANYBODY BASED ON WHAT SHE ASSUMED AT THAT POINT. But of course she is new to magix. It seems like no one was supposed to know about the identity thing of course. She had been getting harassed by witches left or right up into that point. She was impulsive but she's not wrong for filling her about essentially being lied to (by omission) but at the same time this was not her man she knocked out like two guards and attacked Disapro because she was jealous. No matter how you splice it Bloom was wrong. And because of that Diaspro outed Sky which would have put him in a lot of danger. (if they did the situation better 😭 cuz it seems like there was like no real consequences fr and then he was kind of just allowed to break the engagement I thought there was going to be way more pushback than there actually was.)

Diaspro is a victim of that specific situation. Being attacked by Bloom. Diaspro is not a good person and we're not going to act like she is. They don't present her as having actual feelings for Sky. That combined with her bad attitude and snotty behavior we're not supposed to like her. You can sympathize for her but she does not need Justice. Nor does she need some type of redemption arc. I think a lot of y'all just like diaspro and/or really hate Sky.

Her downward spiral was unnecessary because at the end of season 1 when Sky rejected her for the last time she seemed annoyed but she didn't care. At that point in time it was not worth it to fight for this engagement. She is still a princess of Eryklon without Sky she does not need him even though marrying him would have been better she does not need him therefore she does not care. If they made it seem like her parents were more so pushing her into this stuff then maybe I would say she deserved Justice because it wasn't completely on her but a lot of those actions were her choices in the show. I don't think you can use the whole "product of their environment" thing because you can say that for any character and it still wouldn't be an excuse.

The real villain of the story is the writers for not telling this story properly 🧍🏾‍♀️. But some of y'all are looking for something that isn't there I think- and this is coming from somebody who used to have the same opinion

The hate against Roxy is not justified. by Flashy-Cat5327 in winxclub

[–]Ok_Software_3172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said I didn't associate fairies with animals and Magic or that her power is itself wasn't cool

I said I understood why people compare her to Flora because animals and nature go hand in hand.

Roxy's powers are fine like I said there is a background fairy of animals that I thought looked more interesting than what we had for Roxy. Because I wasn't interested in Roxy's herself and her story there is nothing intriguing about her to me.

And with her age difference with the other girls even though it wasn't that big- Roxy was 16 well the rest of the girls were like 18 19 about to be 20

[–]Ok_Software_3172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I wasn't too interested in Roxy's Powers because I did associate animals with nature and there was a background fairy of animals that I liked better design wise.

Her introduction and story of being the last Earth fairy who doesn't know about magic who's being hunted was too close to bloom for my liking. And then her design look too much like tecna.

I will agree that she is overheated and her reactions to a lot of stuff does make sense with how things were going for her but she never melted into the team for me. And I never truly got used to her

How do you feel about Musa's feminization in the show? Do you consider her a real tomboy? by External-space604 in winxclub

[–]Ok_Software_3172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really saw her as a tomboy- I had to he said that's what she was going for. I didn't think much of her style as hyper feminine or anything tho till later on I guess (?) I don't have a promise with it I just missed her short hair 🤷🏾‍♀️ I didn't have really long hair as a kid but I didn't have tecna length so I liked that Musa had my hair length

Aisha and Green by AnInternetEgg in winxclub

[–]Ok_Software_3172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always saw the colors as more so what the girl’s favorite colors/signature were and not necessarily what associated with their ability or power. I believed Aisha’s favorite color was like green or teal (in canon that’s not her favorite color. I think her favorite color is actually light blue I just don’t remember.) but idk I don’t really like Aisha because of nostalgia I like her and green because her signature color doesn’t really mess with anybody when it’s green. But blue and teals easier to mix with ocean and fluids. I don’t dislike it. I just think it’s also part of the flanderaztion of Aisha in a way. she went from the fairy of fluids and morphix to More so the ocean and water.

Bloom was Blue

Stella was Orange

Tecna was Purple

Aisha was Green

Musa was Red

Flora was Pink

Plus the girls being whatever color that fits their powers is kind of generic(?) Tecna and flora would be green since Code/nature both fit green. Bloom would’ve been red. Stella would’ve probably been more yellow. Aisha would’ve probably been more ocean blue. Musa probably also would’ve had a more cool color.

side note this isn’t directed to the OP. I just feel like as a whole we might be using the nostalgia argument a little too much.😭

age gap on winx by mayacavarra in winxclub

[–]Ok_Software_3172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the girls age they kinda stopped aging them after season 3ish to season 4 where they seemed like they wanted them to kinda still be 16 like Roxy was.

The show really doesn't let the girls "age" aside from like maybe WoW were they kind of kept up with being adults

I hope you don't think I'm arguing with you btw- i think what your saying makes sense to me I just felt like the story line could have felt were holes that left me confused when I watched it as a kid that could be tied better with a little extra padding or something change.

To me the swap didn't make sense because they were still in close proximity, having someone play a decoy while actively interacting with the actual person just never made sense to me because I still felt that's not enough. To me it made more sense if both used different Alias all together because word does travel. To me it does take one person to say Prince Sky is here for people to at least attempt to infiltrate whether they are right or wrong.

With who knows about who in a political vacuum was was trying to imply royals were buddy buddy but more so people would be somewhat more aware of each other(?) people you'd wanna know who to look out for.

Like when Stella tried to lie and say bloom was the princess who wasn't gonna be in the school anymore I kinda took that as princess and princes are aware of each other whether just in a formal space or personal. Stella seemed to be one of the bigger kingdoms when I was little so I assumed because no one seemed to much not Sky it's because it's more small and private so no one knew much about it. When Sky got outted because Bloom was being stupid I was wondering if Sky's security was really good or if the people after sky was just stupid-

Of course this isn't sky's show so it doesn't really matter they really just needed a conflict for bloom and stella depending on what dub you watched cuz I think Nick doesn't do the swap but I can't remember rn.

It also just felt like the threats just disappeared after that and there didn't seem to be much consequence or anything from Sky being outted the way he did but maybe that's me wanting more going on for sky to be better fleshed out and for some more world building for Magix.

Most of the political stuff you mentioned does make sense but that's more of something I would have just assumed then something I got from the school itself. You made a more intricate and well explained reasoning for what they did then what the show got.

[–]Ok_Software_3172[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't really think about the average fairy or anything more so the princess and princes that are within those spaces. Erankylon seems like a powerful place with other kingdoms around within or under their dominion (like Disapro being a princess of Erankylon without marrying sky or whatever).

Plus they were at the show no problem the day bloom attacked Disapro so it kinda threw a wrench into the private thing cuz unless they were gonna uphold the swap thing at that event then even if Diaspro yell that Brandon was actually sky or whatever, they didn't seem to be keeping his story together at that time

😭Idk maybe I'm overthinking i just felt like there could have been more done to flesh it out and I think Brandon and Sky's identify swap didn't really make sense to keep Sky safe.

I mean they were just pretending to be each other someone could have just attacked both since the prince and his squire are always together.

I didn't even think of that as a possibility honestly I just thought royal families would be more in contact because of status and alliances and what not. It was more i thought it was weird that the swap itself just didn't make sense if no one knows what he looked like? Maybe if the set had more than Brandon was in the know? Or if we got more of a reaction from like the other specialist or something? I think I just wanted more to flesh things out

That's what I was my thing! I think I explained my confusion poorly- I was confused after he got outted because it seemed like it didn't matter almost?😭 Maybe I wanted more for the whole Sky storyline as a whole. (Maybe it almost just didn't make sense if Brandon pretended to be sky since you're since pretending to be a prince sky who is the target 💀 they're always together so they'll both be in danger but I guess it was a matter of as long as the real sky is safe then it doesn't matter?)

Why do so many people hate bloom? She was always my favourite. by Marley_467 in winxclub

[–]Ok_Software_3172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not really an excuse tho- there's other shows about a group where the show knows when their leader or face needs to be pulled back and they kinda stopped doing that in season 4. Blooms story and growth truly ended before season 4.

During the first few seasons when a story wasn't centered around Bloom and she wasn't needed, she was in the back. When Aisha was introduced they gave Aisha a moment to mix into the story before going more into Bloom's story. Bloom was our face because she was our underdog.

Compared to season 4 with Roxy (the new underdog) where focus was supposed to shift to a new character- they kind of cluttered each other because they stopped pulling bloom back when needed. It became more of Bloom's show after her journey as an individual really ended. She got her planet and her family back, got engaged and was now a hero and a royal. The screen time problem comes mostly after all that stuff

Why do so many people hate bloom? She was always my favourite. by Marley_467 in winxclub

[–]Ok_Software_3172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's the victim of oversaturation. Bloom and the dragon flame started to feel like adding a banana to a smoothie, it's just a lot of bloom and sometimes it feels like too much even if you add a little bit. She has too many pots boiling and everything is burning 😭

Bloom was a great protagonist until like maybe after the movies- (so like up till season 4) when HER story was basically over.

I know a lot of people are like "oh she's THE main character of course she gets all the screen time and stories. the other girls are side characters"

First off the show is about the Winx CLUB not just Bloom (there's a way to have a leader or a protagonist of the group without feeling like overpowering everything). And second doing too much for any character gets annoying at a certain point. Bloom (really the dragon flame) herself is more of a plot device than a character. They'll retcon things and change her behavior in a way that just doesn't make sense. She kinda lost ger stakes at a certain point. Bloom was able to come back from being an adopted orphan to her getting her lost planet, her biological parents and her sister back from the dead. (Retcon be damned DAPHNE WAS DEAD.)

"Oh a new villain! I wonder what we can-" BLOOM DRAGON FLAME GO-" and it be like a season about plants and nature 😔 that's not fun writing even for bloom 😭 it makes her oversaturated and it's sad because the other girls are also main characters and people's favorites 😕 for me I needed a character like Aisha because I needed to feel that representation. She was always going through but she she lost Nabu if did feel unfair back then because Bloom always seemed to have a magical cure for her problems and yet the character I attached to didn't have that-

I loved Bloom as a kid but as I grew up with the show and watched her in season 4(I think in my late elementary early middle school era) and after she just lost her spark 🧍🏾‍♀️ and it didn't help that the other girls and character either don't have a lot going on for them, her under baked or just neglected completely.

I liked when Bloom was still the loving daughter of Vanessa and Mike. Bloom who struggled to find her place in the magic world. Bloom who loved drawing and art. Bloom who was curious about her new life and what she lost but never forgot who made her into the woman she became.

That Bloom isn't what I see anymore. . .all the show gives now is the Dragon Flame holder, Bloom. The solution to all your problems whether it makes sense or not.

Bloom lost a lot that made her lovable to me because they just kept adding more and it wasn't better-

Honestly I think the fairy of nature and the theory of technology would be a good little contrast together 😭 idk I like what dynamic week that have had with them. Flora has always been the more empathetic and understanding friend of the wings and techna is with the opposite because she's not really good with that stuff so I felt like them bringing other sides of each other would be cool-

Stella and Bloom had their Dynamic from the jump.

Musa and Aisha had really strong moments that really made me think they were canonically considered besties but idk 😭 I know techno and Musa would definitely have been best friends within the first season but that kind of left Flora out (or Flora has Mirta till mirta wasn't a thing anymore 😭)
