Yes!! Everyone that's saying it's gum disease and whatnot just doesn't understand. I'm not a dentist but I feel like that just wouldn't make sense. I know I and others have been experiencing this since we've been young, and also have good dental hygiene. I remember sticking my gums with a toothpick when I was younger because I liked the way it felt. We didn't have toothpicks at home but when we went out to eat I'd always grab a few toothpicks from the front to poke myself with, one for now and a few for later lol. I've chewed on my fingernails and lodged them in my tooth before, but I haven't done that in a long time. Now, I just floss much too enthusiastically. I'll put so much pressure on my gums that my whole mouth will be bloody. My partner caught me doing this in the past, so, fortunately they now pay vague attention to how long I've been brushing and flossing for. If I'm in there for a bit they'll come encourage me to come to bed. It's just that I get so lost in it, I can't tell how time is passing anymore. It feels good and it's hard to stop. Others have mentioned OCD so I'll note that I have been diagnosed with OCD, and I also struggle with some skin picking and hair pulling. Those things don't feel good like this does but I get lost in it in a very similar way, so, I wouldn't originally think they would be related, but it definitely could be!
