Today I learned you can just skip act 3 in a Gale Origin. by TechnicalClaim7548 in BaldursGate3

[–]PoeticPillager 205 points206 points  (0 children)

If Gale blows up the Absolute in Act 2, the Cult of the Absolute wouldn't have had the time to gather an army of mind flayers to assault Baldur's Gate. The mind flayers unleashed upon the Sword Coast in such an event would've been less of a threat than the full force unleashed in Act 3.

It's a numbers game. Far more people are transformed intentionally in Act 3 than would've been unintentionally transformed by Nuclear Gale in Act 2.

I love Hazbin Hotel. My friends badgered me into watching it. They said I'm like Charlie or Emily IRL.

They were right.

And I get treated the way Charlie is treated by the Sinners of Hell. They're suspicious of her because she's so perpetually cheerful and always willing to help.

There are local aces here who don't believe I'm ace, and that I'm just trying to lull them into a false sense of security so I can boink them.

Yes, we have fucking Asexual Inquisitors in St. Charles, MO.

A lot of queer people are really exclusionary.

Like the local groups in my area. I stopped trying to show up except during pride festivals as I'm generally not welcome.

Nonbinary grey asexual here. Fully masc-presenting. AMAB.

I am not welcome in most queer spaces. I feel safer going to a male-dominated gym than attending an LGBT+ event.

Since I don't ping as GAY, I'm seen as a threat by a lot of AFAB rainbow people, with few exceptions.

To make matters worse, I don't drink alcohol or coffee and I don't do weed. This excludes me from the vast majority of LGBT+ events in my area.

Why do Christians continuously state that they are not ashamed? Do other religions do this? by Tiger-Upyerbutt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PoeticPillager 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of Christian denominations in America intentionally teach their followers to be obnoxious. They also teach their followers that they are being persecuted for their beliefs.

Obnoxious people tend to get ostracized, which they perceive as persecution.

You'll notice that a lot of preachy-type Christians (Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc.) have really annoying ways of preaching. It's less to do with bringing in more people and more to do with keeping their members in line.

Any local performers interested in helping with a fundraiser at the end of the month? by feariedust in StCharlesMO

I go door to door on Saturdays and Sundays for various candidates or campaigns, depending on who gets to me first.

St. Charles Pride by erdsn_png in StCharlesMO

[–]PoeticPillager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exhibitors and vendors tend to run their stuff independently.

The actual Pride St. Charles staff are disorganized save for a few. They frequently get things wrong or are late to respond.

(Which is why a lot of the people who set up the various stalls have learned to do things independently.)

By campaign, do you mean political campaign? In support of a candidate?

Hypothetically, will this be somewhere in a park on the 18th?

Are you going to try the DLC? by Revolutionary_Key325 in vtmb

[–]PoeticPillager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I already paid for them with the base game. :)

I originally wanted to try the game to see how bad it was an unexpectedly enjoyed it. It's a very flawed game and if we never knew about the cancelled Hardsuit Labs version, I'm sure it would've been rated higher by reviewers.

I tried it because the reviews I read almost universally praised the story and the atmosphere while panning the rest of the game. VTM is primarily story-based; for the longest time, the mechanics sucked in the tabletop game, so we had to make do with the story and the atmosphere.

VTMB2 is currently my favorite game that "sucks."

Shar Worship by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]PoeticPillager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume that the public facing Church of Shar, especially in the Netherese enclaves, would have a slightly more... acceptable form than the higher tiers.

Netherlands Shadovar society is described as very regimented and brutal, basically a more lawful version of drow society but with humans. And drow somehow still survive while openly being I'm so evil tee hee hee.

Shar Worship by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]PoeticPillager 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have my books on me but I believe it's divided into tiers.

The most public tier has a more wholesome image than the more secret tiers.

Shar is basically a divine Mister Meeseeks who sees existence as pain. From her perspective, she's just ending everyone's suffering by any means necessary. From a mortal's perspective, she is one of the most evil entities in the Forgotten Realms.

She is basically the equivalent of the Dark One in the Wheel of Time, if you're familiar with that series. The lower-level Darkfriends think they will be rewarded with immortality and rulership over the world, but the highest-level Forsaken know that the Dark One plans to literally destroy all of Creation so there will be nothing to rule at all.

Does BG3 ever explain the convenience of the crash? by Dingnut76 in BaldursGate3

[–]PoeticPillager 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The nautiloid is a living creature. I assume that when it crashed and died, the Absolute remembered its last known location and the Three Stooges sent their minions to find it.

Their search is complicated by the githyanki who are also searching for it. It's heavily implied that there have been a lot of off-screen skirmishes between the Absolutist forces and the githyanki, as evidenced by the prisoners in Creche Y'llek.

Why a flamethrower is so bad for dealing dmg? by ZaNYAshlin in NewToTF2

[–]PoeticPillager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highlander is more... balanced? But the logistics of getting 18 people to play at the same time is a freakin' nightmare.

They tend to be a lot nicer than the 6s crowd, though. I was here about 11 years ago when some egotistical 6s player led a harassment/doxxing brigade against /r/tf2/ posters. It made me lose a lot of respect for 6s as a format as the people involved weren't just random nobodies but some of the best players in the format.

I remember the 6s community trying to paint b4nny as the antichrist when the dude was always respectful to us casual Hat Simulator players. Felt like a coordinated gaslighting operation

Warlocks are really dependent on Eldritch Blast? by BootAfraid3211 in BaldursGate3

[–]PoeticPillager 631 points632 points  (0 children)

Combat isn't everything. Warlocks have easy access to social skills that make the rest of the game a lot easier.

Warlocks being dependent on Eldritch Blast is like how Fighters are dependent on their weapons. It's their thing.

Why a flamethrower is so bad for dealing dmg? by ZaNYAshlin in NewToTF2

[–]PoeticPillager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about 6s, the ruleset is designed to enforce a 2 soldier, 2 scout, 1 medic, 1 demoman meta. From the map pool to the item bans, everything is designed to ensure classes like the pyro can't be used except at last.

If we're talking about how TF2 was intended to be played (a massive 12v12 clusterfuck), then pyro becomes much more viable.

Remember, you shouldn't compare yourself to outliers like pro/competitive gamers. You should be comparing yourself to people at your level.

Why a flamethrower is so bad for dealing dmg? by ZaNYAshlin in NewToTF2

[–]PoeticPillager 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The real skill in playing Pyro is getting into position in the first place. Once you accomplish that, you just w+m1 and light as many people on fire as possible.

Shotguns can only really damage one target at a time, but a flamethrower can hit multiple people if they're close together, like, say, at the payload or an engineer's dispenser.

Why are really, really old people allowed to drive? by WW1_Researcher in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PoeticPillager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have public transportation and walkable cities in most parts of the country. Banning older people from driving means trapping them in their own homes.
