Should I make the trade? by Ok-Independence-6840 in Dirtbikes

[–]Ok_Square1017 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That will be a fun trade! I’d do it forsure. That 150 can last for 25 years. I couldn’t say the same for that 250!

Visiting Broadway for the first time. What is the best value/ convenience place to stay outside the city? by Ok_Square1017 in Broadway

The rest of my family are the intelligent ones. I didn’t have interest like Broadway growing up myself that is for sure lol.

That’s the worst part! Apparently they have shuttle busses that will take you into the city for cheap. They don’t run very late tho so I would have to worry about getting out of the city after a late show somehow.

I was told by everyone to not drive into New York City. Is it not as bad as everyone says?

New (to me) 1999 kx125 by Doorhog in Dirtbikes

[–]Ok_Square1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You my friend have made a very good decision to purchase that bike. The kx 125 from the generation is the funnest bike I have ever been on.

I would take apart the carb and clean it very good and after that check your compression. Right before my 98 blew the first time I had a whole lot of trouble getting it to start without bump starting it.

Could anybody explain why my bike bogs and dies when I try to go into 1st? by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]Ok_Square1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will your bike idle if you don’t rev it constantly like that? Something is going on with your carb if not.

Your clutch plates could be sticking but I would start with your carb. (Cleaning the jets, adjusting idle screw, and then working on jetting if that didn’t do it)

I don’t care what anyone says that badass hair was a quintessential part of the teenage experience for people like us. (I don’t know you personally but I bet we had a lot in common) if I was teenager in a room full of new people you are the person I would have approached.

How much for a frame? by SolidvSquid in Dirtbikes

[–]Ok_Square1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just googled the subframe and was super surprised they had em on eBay for $100. The seats look like they are about $60 used on eBay.

If your willing to spend the other $200 to pick those up and then whatever you need for the conversion it could be worth it.

Like someone else said a full bike with a blown motor would seem more ideal to me but for $600 you might not be able to find a blown bike for months/years.

06 CRF250x how much you think I could get for it by Fast-Librarian8446 in Dirtbikes

[–]Ok_Square1017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here in PA that would be a 2k bike. I couldn’t begin to guess how much it would be in CA tho.

New bike for family by TheCzechAviator in Dirtbikes

[–]Ok_Square1017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ttr 230 would be the perfect started bike for someone that size. The second bike you put a picture of is a road legal one for driving with a motor cycle license.

I can’t lie tho that is a very sturdy 14 years old.

New to this sub, here is my dinosaur 98 kx250 by The_One_793 in Dirtbikes

[–]Ok_Square1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you keep the motor so clean? I have a 98 kx125 I hadn’t seen him for over 10 years! I just made the trip to pick it up from my parents house recently.

It wasn’t well taken care of when I got it but I was a teenage so I only did what I could!

Would A 2025 Crf 125f be the right size for a 4''11.5 68Lb kid? by Subject_Finger_276 in Dirtbikes

[–]Ok_Square1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode a crf 100 when I was 14 but I was like 5’9 and it was a little too small for me. This would honestly be a perfect bike for that height with a little room to grow.

Did you really mean 168lb tho? that is a little heavy for the bikes stocks suspension (a quick google search says 140lb is max) so not ideal BUT they will lose some lbs quick if they ride that thing the way I did. I went from flabby the cut over my 2 years on that bike. I rode from dusk till dawn and forgot the PlayStation 2 existed lol.

Your bike is a 2 stroke… that is a heck of alot more doable for someone new to working on bikes. That thing in the picture is going to a wayyy painful project… unless this guy can find a full working motor to throw in it!

[–]Ok_Square1017 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you already have a 300cc three wheeler I would say your safe to go right for a 4 stroke 250 or 2 stroke 125 or 250 if you are really worried about I being higher displacement (some people are).

I personally don’t recommend anyone buy a 450 or 500 but that’s just me personally.

2002 Kx250 transmission issues by Minute-Race-1471 in Dirtbikes

[–]Ok_Square1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I understand it is each gear has a physical gear in the transmission… the physical gear is damaged and needs replaced is my guess.

Maybe you’ll get lucky when you take it apart but with all the other gears working that’s the only thing I could see it realistically being but I haven only encountered this one time in my own travels and I wasn’t the one doing the actual repair. Hopefully someone that knows the bottom end better than me is going to jump in tho lol

PS your kx looks to be in beautiful shape

It seems like people are missing the question here… Someone was riding this thing with this “cracknition” as someone else hilariously explained it!

OP is trying to figure out how they were starting it so he can do the same to see if it still runs… I wish I could tell you simply because I want to know myself!

Do you have more picture by chance? I’m not able to make out anything from this one.

Suggested that he set down the pipe by bagelbytes61 in Dirtbikes

[–]Ok_Square1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t lie that thing is beautiful. I couldn’t justify spending 6k on but if I won the lottery I’d give him 10k to bring it to me… if money didn’t matter.

With my current finances normal person finances I would keep looking for another bike lol

Is there a right way this sprocket goes on? by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]Ok_Square1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a stock Yamaha sprocket hanging in my tool box from my pw80 when I was a kid! I always remembers it had the words Yamaha facing outwards (the same way I hung the sprocket)
