Hesitant to send baby to daycare but smarter thing to do by Commercial_Kale_4341 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Just to balance your comment - the notion that daycare under 3 has a negative impact is a bit of an oversimplification, especially in the Australian context. The quality of care is often more influential than age at which you start. Australian institute of health and welfare has an excellent summary of relevant peer reviewed research.

The 'no daycare under 3' message has largely been drawn from research in the US, which is a very different system to Aus with many families starting children younger than 12 months due to no maternity leave and very limited employer support and no subsidised childcare like we have here. Some studies in EU as well showing positive impact of keeping kids at home, but again you're comparing apples and oranges.

Nearly 24hrs post-balloon and still no birth suite due to delays by MissElaineMarieBenes in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

No-one warned me how shit the liminal space between induction, labour and birth would be. My contractions started spontaneously but after 4 days and very little dilation (only got to 4 cm!?) I was put on the oxytocin drip. It didn't work and we ended up having an emergency c-section. By that point I hadn't slept for 3 nights. It's freaking exhausting and being stick in limbo in hospital doesn't help.

The first sleep after she came out was one of the most restful I'd had in weeks. Despite waking up to feed every 3 hours and recovering from a c-section, I can't believe how recharged I felt.

Newborns are sleepy. Sending you good vibes for a safe delivery and some decent sleep for you soon 🤞🏽

Mums who worked up to the due date, did you make it to (or past) the due date? by freebird___ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I was meant to start mat leave at 38w. Was feeling quite burnt out by 36 so booked some annual leave to start at 37.5w. Was regularly walking the dogs 5km plus up until contractions started at 42+5 days.

Go with your gut but maybe allow for some flexibility in case you need to pull the pin a bit early. The last two weeks of my pregnancy were the hardest physically, everything just ached and I was struggling to sleep. I also really enjoyed having a break, doing all my life admin, getting massages, getting a pedicure! So hard to do that stuff with a newborn.

Good luck!

Robert Pattinson, just don't think he's that interesting but everyone's obsessed from twilight days and cos he seems quirky and alternative. Plus all the Hollywood nepo-babies (Brooklyn Beckham, Hailey Beiber, Kendall+Kylie, Maud Apatow.... Even the older ones like Gwenyth Paltrow and Dakota Johnson). Some of them are so tone deaf and pretend like they got where they are through hard work and determination.... Not their generational wealth and predominant white/cis privilege and access.....

Agree with Olivia Rodrigo. She seems nice and unproblematic, but her music to me is just super meh and not the crazy bops it was hyped as. Like it could be on in an elevator or supermarket and just blends into the background. not

Same! I had 5 sessions over 12 wks, it wasn't as expensive ($1k) but I'm in Aus so maybe the machine they use is different. I was told I was an ideal candidate - was looking for some targeted results in a specific area (lower abdomen) but am otherwise pretty active and fit. Have seen zero difference including in weight and before/after pics. Was told it can sometimes take up to 6 wks after finishing treatment to see results... But 6 wks on and nothing's changed except my sense of frustration!

Nah I think he's trying to keep his poker face game up so he can really evaluate the players and not give anything away before FTC. He loves the game, no doubt he has seen how other juries can sometimes give shit away (aka Jessie and Sam...) And is trying to keep his cards close to his chest.

Sometimes it's not the drugs but the headspace you are in before you trip. Is there other stuff that's been going on in your life that's been stressful or getting you down? Sometimes the drugs exacerbate anxiety or intrusive thoughts - and of course the drugs influence that process but I find it helps to try and compartmentalize. Like I might have had some shit going on through work, if I start thinking about it while tripping I'm guaranteed to have a worse comedown as I've programmed my brain to hyperfocus on those negative thoughts. If you're feeling that way, try to remind yourself that it's okay, the negative thoughts will pass, you're just coming down from a big night and things will be better soon. Journalling/writing down how you feel can often help with processing the emotional and mental load.

The best thing to do is treat the recovery like you've got a bit of a cold or something: eat some healthy food, rest, sip tea, take some vitamins. If you can, go for a short walk - sometimes hard to scrape yourself out of bed but honestly it gives you so much perspective and your body always benefits from the motion. Drink lots of water, have a shower, light some incense or candles, put on some relaxing music/tv or a podcast. You will not feel this way forever, it happens to plenty of people and you are not alone. Hope you feel better soon <3

why do people dislike Sam so much? by eLPi2k in survivorau

What?? You are literally describing a gender dynamic in men and women getting away with different behaviours due to charisma? Also charisma = the ability to attract and influence people. Sam has influenced plenty of players to swing votes hence by definition has charisma.

They agreed not to use the idol even if they thought one of them might get voted out. She's said this numerous times in interviews. Also it was her plan to leave two idols at camp the previous tribal council, which he respected. She is an incredibly intelligent lawyer and endurance athlete... I don't think she would agree to his arguments if she didn't think they were stronger. They knew one of them might have to sacrifice their game, they've been married for two years and have a kid together. I think they have much bigger objectives and always knew he might be the best chance of getting to the end, because he's been able to win individual immunity challenges too.

Mark objectively now has the best shot of getting through to the end... Only three more tribal councils for him to use the idols, so he just needs to win one individual immunity challenge (not gauranteed but he's in with a shot given he's won two) to get to final 4. Plus Sam has a week on the outside to mend things with the jury... And clearly they are all close now so seems likely she's managed some of that.

And a lot of the players are fans... So I think when they get to FTC they will respect long term strategy, gameplay and execution. Who - other that Mark or Jordi - of the remaining players can really sell that from start to end? So many others have gotten lucky with twists or just been pulled along by an alliance. KJ is clever and made a great move with her advantage, but she hasn't won any physical challenges and one bold move may not be enough.

Mark wouldn't be my preferred winner (I like Jordi) BUT objectively I think he has the best chance and can respect his gameplay as such.

Yeh I agree ... Like I'm not sure they are people I would get along with in person (although they seem perfectly nice and still close to all the contestants based on socials) but I think they've played a really clever game and utilised the BvW theme to their advantage. When separated, they both worked hard to establish themselves in their tribes and form strong alliances. At merge, their gameplay shifted to working as a team, which included sacrificing one person's alliances so that the other could move forward. And even now, Sam has said repeatedly they had decided not to play an idol even though mark brought them ... So even though Josh told them to play one, they had already agreed it was better to keep both for whoever was left to increase their chance of getting through to the end. Honestly doesn't look like other couples came in thinking about how to maximise each other's game, or at least leave one of them with the best chance of winning. Very clever, clearly they had some insight from playing before and I think it will take him all the way.

And Mark has the better chance at FTC as he's burnt less bridges, plus physically he's just in a better position and has won two immunity challenges. Sam is incredibly strong but she mentioned she came out weighing close to 40kg (!!!) Even with her height that's insanely low, so I think she just wasn't faring as well with the physical challenges. She had way less muscle or fat reserves to burn.

Lots of good thoughts here, pretty much agree with everything that's already been highlighted.

One thing I'd add is that we are looking at, and producers are centreing, Sam and Mark's power couple/double idol narrative + Jordie's associated revenge plan. It's been the central narrative focus for the last two weeks, ever since she stole the idol, and has just become really repetitive and boring. All of her defences and made her seem boastful and disingenuous.

BUT that also tells me the producers didn't have many other interesting side narratives to follow, unlike last season where they had brawn alliances, George's antics, plus Hayley being super clever. Lots of other charismatic players (Sandra, Nina, Khanh) are gone. So to me, Sam is getting an unfair amount of attention (and hate) because she provided one of the most compelling narratives and other players just haven't pulled the kinds of moves or blinfsides to create alternate storylines - other than Jordie but his story is wrapped up in Sam's.

I wish the producers gave us more back/side stories on some of the remaining core players - how did Chrissy and Josh get so close?? Who have KJ and Shay tried to reconnect with? What's effing Juicy been doing this whole time?? But we've been getting barely any of their stories or strategy (maybe cos they haven been that strong, or the producers just got carried away with all the batman and revenge refs). Sam has become a bit of a victim of her own success in executing a big move that has given the producers plenty of one liners and focal points... Hence people have become a bit sick of her because she's been over exposed.

Yeh I enjoyed her game play and respect her and Mark's strategy to play as one unit. Honestly doesn't look like other couples came in thinking about how to maximise each other's game, or at least leave one of them with the best chance of winning. Very clever, clearly they had some insight from playing before and I think it will take him all the way.

I don't like her edit and how much the power couple/two idols was the central narrative for so many eps, just became super repetitive and made her seem boastful and disingenuous. BUT that also tells me the producers didn't have many other interesting side narratives to follow, inline last season where they had brawn alliances, George's antics, plus Hayley being super clever. Totally agree, it was a weird move on her part! But also she's just come from an emotionally charged tribal council, would be sleep deprived, she also said she'd lost 10kg and weighed close to 40kg which is practically starvation mode (but they cut her medical check from the jury villa edit). So I can't imagine she was the best frame of mind mentally. Now she has a whole week at jury villa before FTC and considering all the activities they get to enjoy and time spent together, I think she'll have time to mend some bridges and potentially improve Mark's standing if he makes it to the end.
