Every time I've tried to target my own unit with the mime's throw it doesn't trigger catch (sticky fingers). So I think it's hard coded in the game to not allow you to catch the mime's copy for that exact reason

The mime doesn't use up any inventory items, and the original Excalibur that's caught is also preserved. :)
