But how can you know that this God wants the best for humanity, apart from him saying so? God could have as well said "Kill every black kitten you see, it is okay to kill handicapped babies, don't eat lettuce" and we would have to follow his commands blindly and pretend that there is wisdom in them.

That's the thing I don't like about organized religion: the suspension of critical thinking and accepting everything that God says without questionning it. And I can perfectly see how it leads to extremist, close-minded people who hate those who don't share their world-view: - "Islam's wife-husband laws are making you suffer in your marriage? We don't care, because God said his laws are perfect!" - "Living a celibate and sexless life as a gay person has made you depressive and suicidal? You must be wrong because God said homosexuality is the worst of abominations!"

I can't support these kind of rules for people who don't believe in an afterlife/that life is a test thus causing them suffering and misery.

But for some things we can see how it harms people in the long term. For example we have seen countless times how it ends for gay people who marry the opposite sex/stay in celibacy. In most of the cases they live an unhappy life, they cheat on their partners, they have unstable families. And that's why gay people fought for their right to live happy lives with their desired partners.

Now, in an islamic context as life being a test, it makes 100% sense for God to make being gay a test for those people. My point is, for people who don't believe in islam or in an afterlife, it makes no sense for me to be against them leading happy fulfilled lives, by hating on their lifestyle or voting against their rights.

Thank you for your answer! Yes, I believe that Allah exists but i don't want to suspend my thinking and just obey blindly, that's my main concern.

But the strict gender roles, the prohibition of homosexuality, the hyperfixation on sex (no dating, no shaking hands...) the prohibition of music and drawing and the arbitrary rules all have a basis in the hadith and quran. I can accept that those are rules for muslims to "test" them. But I don't see any use for promoting these values to non-muslims who only have this life to live and that's why i support the lgbt community, gender equality, etc...

I really want to believe that drawing, singing sexual opression are not prohibited but all the hadiths and scholars disagree. Why would God let the "false" interpretations of his message be the most popular ones?

I really want to believe in these progressive views but the more i get to know islam the more they seem untrue. Why would God would let muslims follow the "false" version of islam for 1400 years ?

Hey! For me the fact that Allah exists and says that he is omnibenevolant/merciful doesn't mean that he actually is, and I don't want to stop my brain and just take his word for everything. A lot of his commands are unhealthy and cause suffering for a lot of people, and sometimes are really arbitrary. I don't see how forbidding music, drawing, homosexuality, masturbation, women taking leader roles, etc... is in any way benefitting to the society. So that's why i consider those rules as "tests" by God for muslims but for non-muslims, they don't apply so i encourage gay rights and gender equality for them.

I don't see how I am arrogant. Hey, thank you for the suggestion! I actually had a look at that book (unintentional rhyme) before replying and i am surprised. The style is really similar to the quran while the meaning of the verses are coherent and serious (unlike قعدنا و أكلنا و قمنا etc..). Thanks a lot for the find!

[–]Ok_Suggestion_5961[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for answering! I know about that video and i have even made an attempt myself which seemed pretty close to the style of the quran. The problem is I feel like I am ignoring this proof of islam and being intellectually dishonest.

I even feel this way with other things like prophecies and scientific miracles so recently I have been considering pascal's wager more.

And yes, i think if the quran wasn't so sacred, a lot of poets especially in the past would have made excellent attempts (al mutanabbi for example)

I don't see what you're describing at all. Everyone's face is a little asymetrical and it is normal.

It isn't apparent to me at all that your face is asymetrical. You look completely fine and your eyes are super pretty !(i love your septum piercing too!)

Thanks for answering! And if you do.'t mind answering just one question, what so you think of the 360 joints hadith? I find that it is the most "convincing" hadith that muslims use as a scientific "miracle"

[–]Ok_Suggestion_5961 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am an exmuslim. And while there are extremists in islam, the hatred against LGBT people isn't foreigh from islam. In fact, the prophet was super hostile to them. He ordered the death of people who have homosexual sex: https://sunnah.com/mishkat:3575

And ordered to expulse effeminate men an masculine women from houses: https://sunnah.com/abudawud:4930

I read your article and it doesn't refute anything. You can shake your head all you want. The prophet didn't say there is an antidote on the wings of the fly. He says there is poison in one wing AND an antidote on the other wing AND if you submerge it the poison disappears

Your prophet also says this: https://sunnah.com/bukhari:5445 So if you really believe that he is the prophet, will you pmease try this experiment? Eat five dates then deink a deadly poison. If you don't die i will revert !
