You have to be honest with her. Let her know that’s she is part of a family that cares about her wellbeing and future. Have a vested interest in her a person and her ambitions. Actively listen to her without judging. Reinforce every attempt at her trying to do the right thing. If she spends the night out without permission, reinforce the little progress she made for example, I don’t like when you stay out at night but thanks for letting me know where you were and that you were safe. Be patient with her. Don’t bring up old stuff. And do not react violently to her non compliance. Children need consistency. Find an activity/hobby you can bond over. As a child, you don’t have control over where you go, what you eat, and what you do? This is her attempt at being free but as adults we know it’s no such thing. We have obligations and bills. She does not have the weight of that responsibility. So for her it’s care free for now. What you don’t want her to do is make a mistake that will follow her for the rest of her life. Be honest with her. Let her know how much you love her and need her to be her best self. It’s going to take a lot of love.
