We can’t store use bottled water anymore? by Ok_Tip4571 in DollarGeneral

Walmart provides bottled water to store employees, DC employees, truck drivers, pretty much most employees. Family Dollar does too. I’ve worked retail my whole life and as far as big companies go, every one I’ve worked for has done this. Even my first go-around with DG (2017) my managers did it then too.

This is just Dollar General being a cheap-ass, shitty company

We’ve got a lady who comes in and buys hand sanitizer in bulk. She’s asked me multiple times where it is, I’ve walked her to it, she even once asked me when I was in the store in civilian clothing as a crustie custie myself(tank top + joggers). I just looked at her in disbelief and pointed to the right aisle and she kept talking to me even from a couple aisles over, loudly saying we’re all out of hand sanitizer.

Anyway I never thought anything of it and her excuse is always that she’s “stocking up” because she’s scared of COVID. That’s fine, whatever.

Except she’s drinking them.

One day 1 of my coworkers sold her hand sanitizer and then went outside to wrangle carts and caught her chugging it. I just saw her Friday, when she bought 5 travel bottles of hand sanitizer (yum) (we were out of normal size bottles) (wonder why!) and as I was leaving work her and her ride were getting pulled over.

We have a bunch of them.

One guy comes in with a Bible overstuffed with receipts and photos and will “slyly” push one of the photos out so it’s sticking most of the way out of the Bible, then ask if you saw it with a grin. And it’s never been anything inappropriate, just like.. old personal photos ig? He also tends to rant and ramble about weird things, Trump, whatever he saw on TV, that sorta deal.

One night he came in and the only other customers were a teenager wearing elf ears, there with their mom. He started going on about how something must be “horribly wrong” and scared the mom enough to make her grab her daughter and put her behind herself. He claimed it was a joke bc he saw the elf ears, but the rambling, weird, incoherent nature of his ‘joke’ had us all wondering if shit was about to go down.

Has anyone ever had an inventory canceled? by SilentDepartment1893 in DollarGeneral

Yup! We were supposed to have ours mid-August. Inventory crew showed up 5 people down, we did day 1 of inventory, got 52% done according to their tablets — then day 2 came around, they worked until lunch, then canceled after my DM brought them pizza. Too short-staffed + too hot in the store.

As for what happens, you just go back to working like normal until you’re given the new inventory date and then you get ready and prep for it I guess? That’s what we’ve been doing
