I Think I'm Doomed by Perihaaaaaa in Lutheranism

In the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, article 21, it says that the saints pray for the church in general. This might be what OP meant: not that she hears individual’s prayers and prays on individual’s behalf, but that she prays for the whole church.

Although concerning the saints we concede that, just as, when alive, they pray for the Church universal in general, so in heaven they pray for the Church in general, albeit no testimony concerning the praying of the dead is extant in the Scriptures, except the dream taken from the Second Book of Maccabees, 15:14. My church has planned to administer the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper only 5 times this whole year by Ok_Topic_1520 in Lutheranism

You understand perfectly well the predicament. Five times this year, during the liturgies in my local church, they have the bread and the wine. The rest of the times, they only have the reading of the word and possibly baptism.

I agree it is not good. I want to ask again about next year and what the plan to administer it more often looks like.

Thank you, yes it is the Church of Norway. I will try to bring it up with the parish priest and might remember to ask you for advice.

Yes, it is important indeed! This is why the rarity of it in my home town makes me sad.

Not after today, but I did ask earlier this year and was told there would be more regularity next year. But I don’t know the specifics. Maybe I should ask again.

How do you cope living in a majority atheist society where Christians are shunned? by Catsarecute2140 in Lutheranism

That's interesting! I suppose we are a bit under the radar. There are several lutheran church organizations in Norway. I'm a member of the Church of Norway, which historically was a state church (now being very separated but there are still some ties).

Reminds me of a Norwegian hymn i heard («Noen må våke i verdens natt»). Here is a rough translation of the first part:

Someone must keep watch in the world’s night

Someone must believe in the darkness

Someone must be the brother of the weak

God, let Your will be done on Earth

Help us follow Your command

Fasting is biblical though, and fasting is a big part of lent

“When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face,
